Education: One The Major Debates Essay

Individual Freedom:

One of the essential aspects in personal development and eventual self-fulfillment is individual freedom. College promotes the achievement of personal development and fulfillment through providing freedom that is quite liberating. In essence, the student has to make decisions independently regarding significant aspects of his/her education. This contributes to personal development since the person is taught how to make smart choices and concentrate on what is best for him/her. As there are numerous opportunities to explore, the individual must learn to make decisions without increased supervision from parents or teachers. As a result, the ability of a person to make decisions is tested through analysis of the effectiveness of these decisions, which results in individual growth and ability to determine self-fulfillment.

Discovery of Passion:

Through exploring the various fields of expertise and having individual freedom, college eventually leads to the discovery of individual passion that helps the student to concentrate of what is best for them. From my own experience, I discovered my passion in film by exploring several distinct opportunities and through the liberating freedom.

The discovery of individual passion is the fundamental principle...

If it were not for college, I would not be able to identify my film major, which is my passion that has resulted in confidence, sense of purpose in life, and sense of fulfillment.
Conclusion:

The identification of the significance of college education has become increasingly important in light of the ongoing debate and uncertainty regarding the same. As evident in the exploration and based on my own experience, the purpose of college is for exploration instead of vocation. College basically helps to prepare students for their first job in the workplace after graduation and to prepare them for decades of self-fulfillment. Since students want the two objectives, college serves the purpose of exploration because individuals have the ability to survey the job environment and discover their passion. Notably, college serves this purpose through tackling some necessary elements like provision of variety, promoting individual liberty, and enhancing the ability for discovery of passion.
