Economics Studying in United States have always felt the need to challenge myself and learn from the situations that I have overcome in my life. These challenges and obstacles have provided me the opportunity to be more independent and responsible. I always hade passion for English and knew that learning it would always be a challenge for me. Therefore, just two-year ago, I decided to take up this challenge and went to study abroad in the United States to begin a new stage of my life.

I knew that studying in U.S. would give me a strong foundation and command over English language. Along with my brother studying in the United States, I had come to face the fact that I had left a comfortable life behind. With a sheltered and dedicated care from my parents in Hong Kong, now, living in the United States, without my parents, I realized that I have to be strong and take care of our family. Daily I had to rush back home to cook dinner for him that the delicious food could greet him upon his arrival. Furthermore, I served as a connection to outside work, including, shopping for everyday requirements, looking for an apartment, managing housework, and even learning how to drive. Although, my immigration experience had never been a joy ride but I had always kept up my courage in order to overcome such difficult obstacles.

Moreover, after days of laborious work, I have excelled to a high level English as well as adjusted to this new environment. However, today I wish I understood American culture even better than I do now. Though I sometime have embarrassing moments when…
