Broken Congress There is little argument that the status quo in Congress leaves a lot to be desired. Indeed, the approval rating for Congress is rather low and not a whole lot gets done in Congress other than things that cannot be left to chance such as the debt ceiling and minimal budget measures that keep the government working. However, what is being proposed in the "Brand New Congress" site is not going to work, and for a couple of reasons. While the honesty and forthrightness of Bernie Sanders is certainly a break from what is normally seen, the system is a little more broken than Bernie Sanders supports want to believe and Bernie Sanders is not remotely mainstream in terms of his ideas and motivations.

Analysis

First off, it should be addressed that Bernie Sanders is a rather hard-left liberal and his ideas are not within the mainstream of the United States. Even with the fact that the ideas being put forward with the Brand New Congress site are valid and proper for a number of reasons, what is being put forward why Bernie Sanders cannot be afforded...

If such a power shift is going to happen, it is not going to come from people that support a hard left liberal, at least not wholly (BNC, 2016; BNC, 2016).
The bigger problem when it comes to Congress is the confluence of money and the party system. One of the reasons why actually involved Bernie. While the two people that are going for President right now won their party primaries and thus have the right to become President if one of them wins (and one of them will), a very small sliver of the United States population as a whole actually voted for either of those candidates. A lot of Republicans and Democrats didn't vote for those people and even more Independents did not do so as the latter is often not allowed to vote in party primaries. Even if the two candidates won "fair and square," Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are both fatally flawed and so was their pathway to the nomination that they procured. Hillary was an obvious beneficiary of a Democratic National Committee that clearly wanted her to win and Donald Trump would seem to have grabbed the ire aspirations…
