¶ … Psychology -- Letter of Application
Thank you in advance for your consideration of my application to be accepted into the Psy D. program at Marshall University. I am competent, committed, and caring undergraduate student at Marshall with a powerful work ethic which propels me to the goal of achieving my doctorate. I am a psychology major with a 3.34 GPA and I will graduate in May, 2013.
I am focusing like a laser on my goal so I may (upon completion of my doctorate) provide sorely-needed professional services to rural West Virginia, where I grew up and have lived my entire life.
Indeed, my parents have lived in southern West Virginia for 36 years; my mother was raised in McDowell County, West Virginia, where, according to the U.S. Census, 35% of the population is presently living below the poverty line -- and 43.4% of those under the age of 18 are currently living in poverty.
I am highly motivated by description of the Psy D. program because it seamlessly...
Psychology The Field of Psychology: An Overview of Foundations, Influence and Pertinence in Today's World One of the most fascinating and complex fields of study in today's scientific world is psychology, the scientific examination of human behavior. Psychologists, as professionals, can prove to be an extremely useful resource, especially since mental disorders tend to be just as complicated as physical disorders, and, often, much less apparent. Current paper is focused at exploring the concept of
In order to decrease the risk of burnout, it is important to find ways to deal with stress. Learning to generate a division between ones work life and personal life is a significant first step. Practicing good stress management methods can also be very helpful (Pros and Cons of Being a Clinical Psychologist, 2012). Even though one establishes normal work hours during the day, as a psychologist they may find
Mental Disorders Mental health services for adults and children in Florida are commonly provided by community health facilities and agencies. The use of community health agencies and facilities is providing these services are fueled by the need for an intensive care level to address the increase and impact of mental disorders. Psychiatric Nursing Education: Challenges and Solutions There is a growing demand for nursing professionals, with rapid proliferation of educational programs for nurses. Nursing education requires opportunities for 'hands-on' clinical practice, yet locating sites for practice is non-trivial, requiring considerable creativity from nursing educators and clinical support staff. These challenges can be particularly difficult for mental health practice. For example, the dynamic is altered when the instructor is present for a student/client
Worldview Statement A cornerstone concept of pop psychology, the left brain/right brain divide is "largely bogus," (Lombrozo, 2013). However, the metaphor of left brain/right brain does somewhat accurately allow us to classify people into those whose worldviews are governed by logic and reason versus those whose worldviews allow for a greater degree of impulse and emotionality. My personal worldview is thankfully somewhere between these two extremes. Too much left brain emphasis
