This theory presents problems because not all replacement roles are ineffective or useless. Another is the age stratification theory, which categorizes society according to age, gender, and social class. People are classified or grouped as young, middle-aged and old. They are expected to play certain roles and enjoy certain rights in each classification or group as well as lose privileges accorded each group or classification (American Association of Retired Persons). A more responsive and realistic theory of aging for consideration by demographers should not fixated to the notion that older or senior persons' capabilities are waning. Many older persons or retirees have been living alone on their savings or continued incomes and modern-day gadgets, which enable them to survive on their own. They should not be seen as inessentials that must be sent to the homes for the aged. More and more people approaching the end of employment years...
This theory should also consider that not all older persons actually retire from active work. Some professionals do not retire until they become too ill or physiologically incapable to function fully. Teachers, scientists and journalists do not retire. They and other mature professionals, or even non-professionals, are recognized for their experiences and wisdom in certain aspects of life. Demographers should not construct a secondary or optional category for them in establishing and measuring social dimensions. It is a sound principle that the active population should elicit the guidance and opinion of older people and be allowed to share their decision-making activities as reliable, more experienced partners.Still, in this situation, it is clear that Miami would need the largest workforce with the greatest capabilities to serve a more diverse residential population. Soroka Chapter One Summary of Key Concepts Sociology is the field of study which seeks to "describe, explain, and predict human social patterns" from a scientific perspective. Lastly, the gender gap has meant that males need to engage in more intense competition for females. As a result, money has become a more important means of attracting females (Wei, 2009). These different factors combined to push more rural Chinese into the cities in search of better work.
