Darfur The Genocide Convention Was Term Paper

Genocide on the other hand is usually committed by politically powerful persons or groups of persons on a very large scale. The motive behind this is the total eradication of a certain population group within a country for political or ideological reasons. In this, the Sudan government and its concomitant perpetrators of this crime should be held accountable to the highest degree of the law. Currently, no such accountability is manifesting itself. The question is whether there is anything that can be done. My opinion is that any problem can be solved when certain measures are taken. For this particular problem, the root behind the matter needs to be established. At the root of the genocide problem is an outdated convention for a new manifestation of the problem. The world is evolving on a continuous basis. For this reason, laws and conventions need to be updated on a regular basis (International Convention on Intervention and State Sovereignty: 25).

The vagueness with which measures were attempted to slow the atrocities are also bothersome. The responsibility to protect should for example be firmly and clearly stated in the convention document. Each country and community needs to be fully aware of its responsibilities...

I therefore believe that it is possible to find a resolution. This can however only be done if the world's nations take full responsibility both for their own countries and for intervention in other countries, should this be necessary.

Both Nazism and Communism have been proved of being highly ineffective and dangerous for humanity. In Genocide, Jane Springer starts by examining the mass murder of Africans in Darfur by the janjaweed (the armed Arabic horsemen, hired mercenaries of the Sudanese government, paid to exterminate the African people).
