Funding from federal, state, and local sources might be available to establish a public awareness campaign. In fact, the National Institutes of Health also offer materials that I could publish in lieu of a community-specific guide. These documents offer general information that homeowners might be happy to have, and they are available in Spanish as well as English (National Institutes of Health, 2013). I might need to analyze the demographics of the community to determine the most appropriate methods of intervention. This would require access to census information, from the United States Census Bureau.

Insofar as I would want to use information to impact public policy, it would be critical to speak with lawmakers by referring directly to the expertise of the EPA and NIH with regards to radon and what to do about it. My state has a Department of Health, which has the jurisdiction over my community. This is where I would look to find funds for programs such as local testing, and health screening for individuals with radon toxicity. There might even be information for how citizens can become litigious, using the judicial system to sue contractors for radon poisoning.
