The emissions inventory showed that eight percent of emissions could be attributed to fuel combustion and company-owned vehicles and were thus the result of direct use by UniSA. Ninety-two percent of the emissions were from indirect sources, including purchased electricity and products and contracted services. With this information, emissions reduction targets were set.
The goal for UniSA for the period 2007 -- 2012 is a six percent reduction in emissions. To support this goal, UniSA has a five-star Green Star design standard for all new buildings and a four-star Green Star designed standard for all refurbishments. Any vehicle emissions are offset through Greenfleet. By 2020, it is hoped that emissions will have been reduced by twenty-five percent of 2007 levels.
Five-star Green Star design buildings offer additional advantages along with helping to reduce carbon emissions. They are less expensive...
Emissions trading programs as a means of achieving targets under the Kyoto Protocol The global problem of climate change is becoming increasingly apparent as populations and economies grow worldwide. The build-up of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in the atmosphere is cited as a prominent cause of climate change. There is a correlation between elevated concentrations of GHGs in the atmosphere, especially carbon dioxide (CO2), and global warming, which leads to extreme weather
But the supply far outstrips demand, Europeans are finding. The climate of this marketplace itself is decidedly cloudy. Advance prices have plunged by half. At this point, one shouldn't portray it as a liquid, vibrant market," said Atle C. Christiansen of PointCarbon, a Norway-based research firm (Climate, 2004). More than six years after governments negotiated the historic climate accord in Kyoto, Japan, the world is taking only halting steps _ not always
In this author's opinion, a greater than ninety percent probability that humans are involved in global climate change, with the additional concern that irreversible detrimental consequences may result, is sufficient to warrant immediate action in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Within the scientific field an absolute certainty that humans have fueled global warming will never be obtained, no matter how much time is provided for study. It is paramount that action,
Emissions Trading "A basic principle Economics comparative advantage: a country produces goods producing, bad. The traditional story includes relative endowments capital labor, capital intensity goods matters. Now add environmental externalities. Comparative advantage in emissions trading: The environment and economics Although it was not signed by the United States, at the time of its drafting, the Kyoto Protocol was considered a major advancement in attempts to curb global warming by limiting emissions. However, the

European Union's Emissions Trading System (ETS) The objective of this study is to research the European Union's Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and to answer the questions of what is the stated purpose behind the EU ETS and why the concept of the EU ETS is agreed or disagreed with. The question of what the current and potential results of the EU ETS will be examined and other effects of the
