Group Philosophy

Create a teaching tool that would help others learn about the core tenets of the educational philosophy of your group.

In education, there are different philosophies which have an impact on the techniques used by teachers. Neo-Scholasticism is taking various religious and philosophical beliefs to have an effect on how someone sees the world around them. This is achieved through dialectical reasoning, gaining knowledge by inference and resolving contradictions. (Hollins, 1964) (Souza, 2007) (Sherman, 1988)

At the same time, there is a focus on a concept called natural philosophy. Under these pillars, it is believed that everything related to God and the world is interconnected. A perfect balance is created when there is an alignment of these concepts. (Hollins, 1964) (Souza, 2007) (Sherman, 1988)

In the field of education, these ideas can be used to create a basic philosophy for reaching out to students. This is achieved by focusing on three different areas to include:

God is pure and complete perfection: This means that only God can preserve and create all beings other than himself. He has infinite knowledge of everything.

In the material world there are limits: This means that humankind's knowledge is narrowed to the Earth and the universe. As everyone has a common connection with nature on the most basic level. Each substance fixed and determined by God.

The nature of humankind: In this case, the theory believes that everybody's senses and knowledge help to distinguish them from other beings in nature. Knowledge is gained through understanding this idea and learning from their experiences. This helps to place them in charge of their own destiny and to have a sense of purpose. (Hollins, 1964) (Souza, 2007) (Sherman, 1988)

These ideas are showing how biblical philosophy is combined with interpretation. This helps everyone to understand the way someone learns and grows. (Hollins, 1964) (Souza, 2007) (Sherman, 1988)

Teaching these concepts involves creating an outline. Inside, it will describe scholasticism / neo-scholasticism techniques and how they are applied. It is carefully examining the main points and provides a basic discussion of why this matters. This offers a better explanation of these concepts and it creates a foundation for everyone to follow. (Hollins, 1964) (Souza, 2007) (Sherman, 1988)

At the same time, a series of Power Point slides will be produced. This will have the main discussion points on scholasticism / neo-scholasticism. The information will help everybody to follow and participate using their outlines. Both will ensure that the lecture has a logical pattern and makes sense. (Hollins, 1964) (Souza, 2007) (Sherman, 1988)
