Reflections upon the Course Conclusion

This course has helped me come upon several important realizations regarding scholarship, research, teaching & learning, and obviously, realizations regarding organizational studies. I realize that Organizational Studies is not a subject that should be limited to business related degree programs. Organizational Studies is a topic to which students across a large spectrum of disciplines should be exposed. There is an increase of attention, research, and scholarship regarding how spatial relationships among humans, objects, and settings affect numerous occurrences such as attention, productivity, mood, social interaction, efficiency and much more. Therefore, Organizational Studies has a place in more than just the business arena. It definitely has a place in Education and Healthcare. It would have better prepared me for adolescence, undergraduate matriculation, and the workforce.
I already considered myself an above average researcher insofar as my ability to locate quality resources to think about, write about, and support my own ideas. This course pushed me to find quality sources directly related to provided articles or articled I located, but also the course pushed me to locate articles that composed the context within which to think about and write about said articles. The course asked me to locate sources that were within the existing context of provided ideas and to locate sources that consist of a greater context as well. The course developed my skills in identifying research questions and hypotheses. The course furthermore pushed me to analyze existing research questions and hypotheses and create new yet related research questions and hypotheses. That experience was a valuable challenge. I had to create research questions and hypotheses that were original but yet clearly related to the research questions and hypotheses of the authors about which I read. This experience helped me participate in the context of established ideas. Though my work is not yet published in this area, those modules made me feel as a participant in the research community of that topic. I could have sought further explication of the professor's feedback upon my work in a better fashion or more often. Improvements are difficult to make when feedback is unclear and non-specific. I should…

bibliography, and research, knowledge of variables becomes increasingly critical. Therefore, I appreciated the challenge of distinguishing and generating variables in the modules. I learned about the influence of variables upon research questions and hypotheses, too. Variables are terms and things that are thrown around the academic realm, but not many researchers have a deep and practical understanding of variables and their function(s) in research at all stages. The work spent with variables, research questions, and hypotheses, though arduous, gave me confidence to complete doctoral research projects.

The most enjoyable module for me was the one where students engaged with heuristics. I am a creative person and believe that there is room for creativity in all academic disciplines. Therefore, heuristics, for me, was very enjoyable. I found that heuristics exercised my creativity muscles satisfactorily and it also gave me awareness in research. Heuristics will help me keep my research from stagnating and will help me stay innovative and open-minded in approaching my research. Heuristics helps keep research stay fresh and helps researchers locate and fill gaps in existing research.

Overall, I found the course to be practical and I am a person with an appreciation for utility. The course really made me work and I realize the benefits more so as the course concludes and I am sure I will see further benefits as my education and career progress.
