Broadcast News Job In Today's Term Paper

Skills and knowledge on photography and video footage. Photographs and video footage are important parts of any news report, thus it is recommended that still and video cameras should always be at hand.

On Wages or Salaries

On 2005, in the United States, the lowest starting salary that broadcast journalists receive on an annual basis is $30, 337.00 (Sahadi, 2005, para 7). Thus, today, an entry level in a broadcast news career can expect a more or less $31,000.00 annually. This may be very low considering the taxes that go with it. However, even a beginner on this field can still expect some perks relative to the job such as the opportunity to go on various areas inside the country, the possibility to talk with various famous and important personalities, and the chance to serve a noble cause of informing and updating the public of various issues and news.

The Small Media Market

New York is the best possible area for the new broadcast journalists. This is not only because of the competitive salary that the broadcast companies in this state can offer, but because of the relatively big market in this state.

In this state, there are vast number of people with various type of cultural background and upbringing. A lot of companies and industries are present in this area. More so, all the best possible news and issues are abundant. Thus, a fresh graduate broadcast journalist could not only earn better in this state, but they can also learn more and achieve more while working in this area.

Some of the advantages on living and working in New York include:

Wider career market - most of the major broadcast and publishing companies lie in New York.

Abundance of people and businesses -...

Larger market means more competition. Surely, there are more numbers of broadcast journalists who would aspire to start their career in New York. Another disadvantage of living and working in New York is connected to its being in the industrialized state. The cost of living such as the prices of foods, the cost of housing and/or apartment units, the cost of transportation and cost of other utilities can be expectedly high also.
Career wise, starting a broadcast news career in New York will definitely be a good choice. The place offers better chances for any fresh graduate broadcast news person. However, with regards to the comfort of living per se, New York may not be the best place to be. Being in this highly industrialized city may not be healthy for a starter.
