The empathy came from Kathy and Jim's experiences and challenges, the information from revenues, and the set of facts and utilization process something many organizations deal with regularly. The case is presented in an organized and outlined fashion in that the reader is hooked with the opening, then given the background, a set of challenges, pertinent financial information, issues from the stakeholder's perspective, and then financials. The subtitles (e.g. "Once in a Blue Moon") were both humorous and relevant to the issue. The case writer provided enough details to guide several decision-making processes, but was not adamant (as in a text) about the way x or y should be done. The case study format allowed the reader to glean information, to amass the situation, and then to come up with ways to make better decisions.
