First and foremost, Person A is highly adaptable. There are numerous differences between mainland China and Hong Kong. There are even more differences between Hong Kong and the United States of America. Person A experienced an immense shift in his/her life. Person A relocated to an exotic and foreign country, society, culture. Though American products and media are present and available around the world, there is no comparable experience to actually living in the United States.

Person A had some advantage being from Hong Kong where the official languages are British English and Cantonese. Though British English differs from American English, it is a great deal more similar than compared to Cantonese. This person maximized their best qualities turning an extremely difficult transition that could easily depressed and frustrated many others. This person in a way was able to hit the ground running. This person experienced a great deal of transitions that ultimately prepared him/her for guardianship over his/her sister as well as personal and professional development.

Person A was additionally quite independent. This person handled all of the responsibilities that come with living a lone and heading a household. This person also is able to admit when he/she struggles, had difficulty, makes a mistake, or needs improvement. That kind of humility, awareness, and internal motivation would be very practical and useful in the work environment. The independence that Person A demonstrated and maintained further prepared him/her for his/her future as a guardian -- essentially both sister and parent to the younger sister. The younger sister would have an entirely different set of challenges in adaptation, but with the support of Person A, the younger sister can concentrate on learning the culture and new ways of life.
