Asses Two Cases Related To Public Relations. Term Paper

¶ … asses two cases related to public relations. First our focus will be on a case regarding a Persian restaurant, we will assess the factors regarding the demise of business activities of this restaurant and consult ways on how to improve this since it is very crucial for the survival of this business. Secondly, we will emphasize on how to give an image boost to the American Bull Terriers who is commonly known to be a very violent animal species. Case I (Tehran Restaurant)

In this case, it is very important to realize the background factors which are responsible for the demise of business activities of this restaurant. The main root cause of the problem is the negative public perception the general public has regarding Iran or any other thing associated with it. This is created due to the extreme negative perception the media portrays about Iran and its government's ambitions. However, there are certain things that the business owners must realize which can help them in coping up with this crisis.

Firstly, they are not associated with the Iranian Government (I am assuming this since any government won't open a restaurant in the territory of its enemy nation for over 25 years for some hidden objectives without them knowing), so for the management of this restaurant it is very important to focus on this fact. Secondly, its just the perception that they have to worry about and not the quality of service which they provide. They could choose to adopt the following strategies to make them look more appealing for the customers.

First, they can rename their restaurant towards a more acceptable name which may be common in the public, a name which is more Western and related to the foods and beverages industry could also benefit the business here. Second, they can choose to advertise the excellent reviews which they received during the past 25 years regarding their services, atmosphere and especially the food....

Third, since a major portion of the American public is very diet conscious, the restaurant management can show through advertising that how healthy their dishes are, this can be done by showing how much calories an item contain.
The best target audience for the PR effort are the previous customers who have been dining in the restaurant and are the proof that the various different services offered by the restaurant are of excellent quality. If the restaurant is losing these consumers then it should focus on gaining their confidence first so that later they could also promote the quality of the restaurant through verbal communication with others.

There could be many competitors of Tehran restaurant, especially during the current economic climate where the businesses are facing tough competition throughout the United States. Here the biggest threat to Tehran restaurant could come from the well established names in restaurant or fast food business such as KFC, McDonalds and so on. Even though the items being offered by Tehran restaurant may be different from the rest, the public might choose to change their preferences towards more mainstream items being offered by the competitors of Tehran restaurant therefore it is very important to make a business strategy concerning the competitors and what they have to offer.

"The realistic objectives of PR is to promote anything and inform the general public regarding its positives so that they might choose to deal with it rather than its competitors" (L'Etang 2004). In this case, our restaurant has many positive points which it can choose to promote among the people. In today's business environment, the tactics of Public Relations are also immensely used to clear up common misconceptions regarding anything which are among the general public since it can change the priorities of the public on where to invest, where to buy from and where to do business.
