The old adage that an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure certainly holds true in this instance. Remembering to keep yourself covered up and monitoring the way your fingers and toes fell is the most important step in keeping yourself safe from frostbite. Simple awareness is usually the first step in preventing accidents and injuries, and playing with the cold is no exception. If your fingers begin to feel stiff or numb, you should go inside and warm them immediately. It might not be fun lose a snowball fight, but it's better than losing your fingers.
