The world is increasingly becoming interconnected and with this, we are living in a truly global village. In that regard, therefore, just like businesses now compete on a global scale, people are also competing globally on the basis of skills. In that regard, therefore, only those who excel in their areas of specialization are likely to survive the competition -- be it for jobs or for innovative space. Now, more than ever before, I fully appreciate the relevance of superior academic abilities. It is for this reason that I have, in the recent past, made deliberate steps towards the improvement of these abilities.

To begin with, I have gone through a number of resources that largely dwell on how to enhance academic achievement. One of the texts I have read is a book titled, The Study Skills Handbook: More than 75 Strategies for Better Learning, by Judith Dodge. In brief, the author lays bare a wide range of strategies one could make use of to excel in academics. Amongst other things, this particular book covers subjects such as effective note taking skills, how to formulate a personal development plan, strategies to enhance memory, etc. I must say that this book has played a gigantic role towards the further development of my academic abilities.

Secondly, still in an attempt to enhance my academic prowess, I have also engaged in deep reflection, especially with regard to exactly what I would like to achieve going forward. Thanks to this reflective exercise, I now have clear goals. It is on the basis of these goals that I will try my best to excel in areas relevant to my career of choice. In brief, I aspire to be an accomplished physical therapist. Thanks to the goals that I developed after deep reflection, I am now confident that I will pursue my studies with a lot of vigor.

Next, it is also important to note that I have been exploring effective stress management strategies. In the past, my academic performance has greatly been affected by a number of stressful events. As you may already know, the ups and downs of life are largely unavoidable -- what really matters is the way we handle them. Personally, I have always found it challenging to concentrate (mostly in class work) when under pressure. Some of the stress management strategies I have familiarized myself with include but they are not limited to; focusing on the positive (i.e. what could go right instead of what could go wrong), embracing and being appreciative of change (when it cannot be wished away), practicing patience, etc. I plan to implement these stress management skills, and thus minimize the impact of stress on my academic performance. This way, I am certain I will excel in my academics.
