¶ … Valuable Techniques
Students and lecturers alike often overlook the many challenges involved in essay writing; the former because of their lack of experience, and the latter because of an excess of the same. Essay writing, as the experienced know, does not come naturally at any level. Although lecturers are often sufficiently experienced to feel as if the techniques of essay writing come naturally, they also are bound by the rules and techniques of the phenomenon. As such, both lecturers and students can benefit from revisiting these techniques in the classroom. Three techniques that are specifically valuable in this regard include writing better essays, illustrating paragraphs, and narrating paragraphs.
Writing better essays ultimately results in better grades at the end of the school year. In pursuing this goal, the student should keep a number of things in mind. One of these is grammar. Good grammar and sentence construction are two of the basic requirements for a good essay. This includes accurate spelling, verb-subject agreement, and punctuation. These building blocks of language are vital to constructing a good essay.
A further requirement of good essays is illustrating paragraphs. This means that each paragraph includes examples that support the topic sentence. The topic sentence makes a statement that is illustrated by clear examples in the support sentences. Illustrative examples provide the arguments in an essay with greater strength than would have been the case otherwise.
