Tactical and Sustainment 1/8 ABCT Operations Development and Analysis of Doctrinal Solutions to Tactical Problems

Mission Statement

As an 1/8 ABCT Commander, Our core mission is to use the maneuver and fire to destroy the enemy forces and repel their attacks by close combat, fire, and counterattacks. Our mission statement is to defeat the enemy based on the northern flank in order to protect the main body of the division. Moreover, we should dedicate in seizing the OBJ BRAVO, which is a city 80 Kilometers from the west of BRIDGEPORT. As an important division of a decisive operation, our mission is to seize the OBJ BRAVO to protect the II Corps. The 1/8 ABCT's decisive operation is to seize the OBJ BRAVO to protect the main effort of the II Corps. The 1/8 ABCT will also advance as a division to achieve a decisive operation. Our mission is to exercise authority to achieve disciplined initiative and intent to apply agile and adaptive leading in order to conduct a unified land operations. Our mission is also to use different tactics to exercise authority by understanding a correct doctrine. We will utilize the Army operational process to practice the mission order.

2. Intent of the Mission

1/8 ABCT Commander's Intent to achieve the Mission

The intent of the mission is to overcome several obstacles of the enemies. Typically, the enemies have overturned the building materials and vehicles on the ROUTE ORANGE, which is the south of the BRIDGEPORT in order to influence friendly force to deploy military assets as early as possible. We will use all the military tactics to disrupt the enemies' movements. Moreover, our task is to approach BRIDGEPORT to attack the enemies and disburse accurate and consistent RPG fire at the enemies. Our task is also to increase the fire intensity as the enemies approach the outskirt of the town. Our end state is to use the decisive action in achieving combination of continuous and simultaneous defensive, offensive and stability to achieve decisive tasks. Moreover, our tasks are to combine the three elements-defense, offense, and stability. (Richard, & Jonathan, 2013).

3. Identification of the ABCT's primary Defensive Offensive task OR Defensive Task

The ABCT's is to take a hasty defensive position very near the BRIDGEPORT across the CENTER RIVER over the ROUTE ORANGE. The brigade is also to develop defensive action over the BRIDGEPORT. Our offensive task is to destroy and defeat the enemy forces, secure and seize the terrain using a coordinated movement, supported by fires using the decisive operations to destroy the enemy's disposition. We will exploit the offensive task to conduct successive attack to disorganize and disintegrate the enemy force where they will have no alternative but to flight or surrender. We will use the offensive attack to breach obstacle and neutralize enemy forces. The ABCT will accomplish this objective by conducting a penetration tactic to attack the enemy base. Our decisive operation is to destroy the enemy's forces. Our engineers will improve our mobility by destroying the enemy infantry forces as well as suppressing the enemy armor.

4. Identification and explication of the ABCT's Decisive Operation

The ABCT's decisive operation is to destroy all the enemies' weapons by attacking their base to prevent disruption of ABCT's operation. There will be an attack on enemies to suppress their armors and destroy their infantry forces. Characteristics of decisive operation will consist of surprise, audacity, tempo and concentration. The ABCT will use offensive action to capitalize on timely and accurate intelligence regarding the enemy forces. (William, 2009).The commander will manoeuver forces to achieve advantageous positions. The protection tasks will be used for the operational security as well as inhibiting and preventing the enemy from acquiring information. The ABCT's decisive operation is to conduct penetration by seizing south of MARYSVILLE and north of BRIDGEPORT. Critical decisive operation is to destroy enemy forces using a sudden and shattering action to capitalize on COP (common operational picture), which will be expanded throughout the operation. The ABCT will execute a violent operation without hesitation in order to destroy the enemy and break the enemy's will.

5. Identification and Explanation of the ABCT's Shaping Operations

The ABCT's shaping operation is to use a hostile front to fix enemy's forces using current position and prevent the enemy from disengaging in order to use a decisive operation on enemy. The ABCT will track the battle progress in order to assist the subordinate forces to penetrate the enemy's security areas and enemy's main defensive positions. Although, the enemy...

The ABCT will use all the available resources to penetrate the enemy's defensive position using the military deception and electronic warfare to desynchronize the enemy's position. The ABCT shaping operation is to destabilize the enemy's military resources to disrupt their zone of support.
Section 2: Sketch and Explanation

a. Depict the Cavalry Squadron Location's on the Sketch.

The cavalry squadron's location will be at the 1/8 north road of the ABCT location in the sketch. Fundamental purpose of the cavalry squadron is to provide security for the close operations. By carrying this operation, the cavalry squadron will facilitate the task of ABCT's commander in maneuvering the battalions, to concentrate on their superior combat power and apply the tactics against the enemy at a decisive point and time. The role of cavalry is to allow the commander to conserve power, carry out defensive and offensive missions. Based on the location of the cavalry squadron, the ABCT will be able to launch warfare to achieve tactical sense, and attack enemy's vulnerability such as cutting the line of their communication, and destroy their service support capability.

b. Purpose and Task of the Cavalry Squadron

The purpose and task of the cavalry squadron is to use the tactical sense, position combat forces and implement swift movement to attack enemy's line of communication. The task of cavalry is also to maneuver using the tactical sense to exploit offensive opportunities. In other words, maneuver is to use the power of superior combat against the enemies.

c. Depict EACH of the Combined Arms Battalion's location on the Sketch.

As being revealed in fig 1, the location of the arms battalion stipulated on the sketch is at 1/8 ABCT at the Eastern part of the sketch. At the western part of the sketch stationed the 1/8 ABCT battalion, which is 80-kilometer to the OBJ Bravo. Moreover, the 1/8 ABCT battalion is stationed at southern part, which is 20-kilometer to the Center river. Thus, the combined arms of the battalion are stationed at eastern, western and southern part of the sketch.

d. Purpose and Task of EACH of the Combined Arms Battalion

The task of 1/8 ABCT eastern part is to make a military assault at the Bridgeport, which is one of the military base. The tasks of the 1/8 ABCT southern part and 1/8 ABCT western part are to attack the OBJ Bravo. The purpose of the attack is to seize the OBJ BRAVO, which is a city west of the BRIDDGEPORT. Moreover, the decisive operation of I/8 ABCT is to protect the main efforts of II Corps.

d. Depict the Fires Battalion's Location on the Sketch

The location of the fires battalion is at the Eastern part of the sketch (8ID 1/8 ABCT). At the western part of the sketch stationed the 1/8 ABCT battalion, which is 80-kilometer to the OBJ Bravo. Moreover, the 1/8 ABCT battalion is stationed at southern part, which is 20-kilometer to the Center river.

f. Purpose and Task of Fires Battalion.

The task of the fires battalion is to launch heavy fire using the field artillery on the enemies. The purpose of the fires battalion is to destroy the enemy indirect fire systems to allow the build up of the combat power. (Richard, & Jonathan, 2013).

g. Depict Combined Arms battalions' Boundary and Operation of the armed reconnaissance Squadron

The boundaries of the combined arms battalion is at the eastern part of 1/8 ABCT, which is at the 8 ID. Moreover, the combined arms battalion is at 8ID, the westerm part of the 1/8 ABCT . The combined arms battalion's boundary is also at CFLCC 8ID nothern part of the sketch. However, the boundaries of the armed reconnaissance squadron is at the western part designed to deliver timely and accurate information across reconnaissance companies.

h. Depict the Main Command Post's Location and Post of the Tactical Command

The location of the main command post should be at the 1/8 ABCT eastern part of the sketch, while the tactical post should be at the1/8 ABCT southern part of the sketch.

i. Explanation of Decision to Locate the Tactical Command Post and Main Command Post

The major reason for locating the command post at the eastern part of the sketch is to assist the commander exercising both control and command.
