Wright State University Website eview and Critique
Website Critique
The website is an increasingly valuable medium to foster an institution of higher education's mission and, thereby, must be critiqued with rigorous standards to effectively serve the learning community. Benedict (1996) encourages student affairs professionals to embrace the personal responsibility to develop technology competencies, as he advocates technology will constitute a core competency in the 21st century (Benedict, 1996). In this regard, the following paragraphs will provide a critique of the current Wright State University Library website. To present a coherent layout, this critique will follow the current format of the website with a review of each page that warrants improvement.

This page is a key opportunity to engage the user in the site information, as this will most likely be the first page seen. Whitney (2002) asserts that the goal of every website is to increase the probability of engagement with the…...

Pay Structure:
Southeastern Oklahoma State University is a growing university that has been characterized with professor and employee turnover rate. Since the rate is becoming a major concern, the institution is currently working on their pay structure in order to overcome this challenge. Notably, one of the major concerns for the institution is whether to conduct a survey when developing the pay structure. The need for conducting a survey is a crucial concern for the institution given that every organization must develop its own pay policy line, which is a trend line that best represents the value of jobs that are considered to have specific worth (Henderson, 2006, p.266).
Similar to many organizations, Southeastern Oklahoma State University should conduct a survey since the procedure for establishing a trend line or pay policy involves identifying the market rates for various benchmark jobs that cater for…...

Arizona State University (ASU) is a leading metropolitan research international institution in the United States that is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and public service. Established in Tempe in 1885 by a legislative act, ASU was initially formed as a teachers college. The core of the Tempe campus was a 20-acre cow pasture donated by leading citizens who desired an institution to educate public school teachers and offer instruction to their children in agriculture and mechanical arts.
In 2002, Michael M. Crow became the University's sixteenth president. In his inaugural address, he outlined his vision for the transformation of the school into a prototype for a new American university. This future institution will be a comprehensive research university that continues its academic excellence as well as have a strong commitment to social, economic, cultural, and environmental issues to meet the needs of the growing Phoenix area. The city has increased…...
This also include resolving minor and major conflicts, issues and problems. This phase also include the management and constant supervision during the event, prize distribution and speech.
I realized that this is not only a tiring job but it also required me to be active all the time. I was sheer hard work. While evaluating what I did I came across the fact that I need to be more active and up to mark. Secondly I need to improve my communication skills. Thirdly and most importantly I need to learn multi-tasking and improve my managerial skillsas these were the greatest requirements for the success of an event. By success I mean giving the hundred percent to sponsors, participants, audiences and staff!!
I also realized that day-to-day matters, record keeping, conflict resolution and other normal activities (including scheduling and planning of coaching sessions, availability of practice ground, etc.) also are an interesting…...

As most of you know, trends in the educational field have dramatically changed over the last few decades. This is due to a number of internal and external factors: Globalization, the Internet, Distance Learning, Federal Funding to Education, and the overall economic health of the nation. Stakeholders now have new expectations from all vendors, including educational institutions. Companies like Amazon.com have brought a new level of customization to web searches and recommendations, and social networking has changed the way stakeholders communicate. Even governments are instituting new policies for e-Government delivery of goods and services to align themselves better with the needs of the local and regional community. As an educational institution, though, the community needs to be thought of in a different manner -- not as those who can drive by car to take classes 8-5 on a Full Time basis, but…...

Cultural Audit of St. Cloud State University: HR Analysis and Critique
To address the deficits highlighted the cultural audit, St. Cloud University has resolved to address issues of demographic isolation, namely the sense of students that they do not have a 'connection' to the university, and the persistent problems regarding minority tensions and institutional discrimination. Perhaps the most telling survey comment came from a student, criticizing the survey structure: "I think that this survey was bogus. I can't believe you wasted $50,000 on this thing. e already know that SCSU is a hub of institutional racism" as noted in the Qualitative Analysis Section of the report. Another telling detail was that some faculty, administration and staff felt there was a notable lack of African-American and Jewish faculty members on campus, and that some felt the presence of a 'glass ceiling" regarding promotions of women. Also, disability services were perceived as inadequate.
These…...

Aliesha state college competence vs. need
Competence vs. Need
The decision problem has been identified by looking at the fact that one area of the college has to go. There is no reason to see that there are any other choices other than the one that is being decided upon by the Board of Trustees. In other words, the dilemma in this particular case has been whittled down to the idea that either the speech clinic or the high school must go, and there are no other alternative solutions that would allow the college to keep both of those things and scale back some of the other programs. Because the case study does not say why things have been determined this way -- other than the fact that these two areas are the most expensive for the college to run -- there is no clear way to understand the decision problem…...
winter, 200 students from Waymarsh State College traveled to the state capitol building to protest against proposed cuts in funding for various state college programs. The other 12,000 Waymarsh students evidently weren't so concerned about their education; they either stayed on campus or left for winter break. Since the group who did not protest is far more numerous, it is more representative of the state's college students than the protesters. Therefore, the state legislature need not heed the appeals of the protesting students."
At first glance the above editorial comment seems like a reasonable observation. It is only when I took a second look that I discovered three points that proves it to be a false observation.
The first thing that makes this an unreasonable statement is the belief that the 12,000 who did not travel to the state capitol were in support of the proposed cuts. Anyone who studies research…...
The fast pace of technological change,
advancements in campus policies and even a varying demographic makeup of
revolving student bodies make for a considerable and interesting challenge
to the leaders in the environment. It requires Barqeuo and his staff to
remain always abreast of standards, practices and policies.
According to his administrative secretary, Barqueo remains in close
and constant contact with the administrative offices of the college, which
he in turn parlays into a direct pursuit of long-term school ambitions
amongst those in the community with respect to campus development.
Particularly, it is his responsibility to find effective ways to help the
board reflect campus, college and community-wide goals. Therefore, he is
in the pressured position of orienting those under his leadership toward
the larger goals of the institution and its numerous affiliates.
For Barqeuo, there appear to be largely positive indicators pointing
to his effectiveness as a leader, with the informative and friendly nature
of his staff chief among them. In addition, Barqueo…...
Education on managing or eliminating debt early in one's professional life should also be combined with realistic education on the state of the economy and the impact which this has levied on personal opportunities for financial comfort. To this point, individuals are not finding the jobs for which their education has qualified them, are not achieving a pay commensurate to what they anticipate are their living requirements and are unable to afford many of the fundamental instruments to healthy and intelligent living. Indeed, one source denotes that "in 2007, the Census Bureau estimated that there were nearly 8 million uninsured young adults (ages 18-24), making them the largest segment of the uninsured population. That problem is likely to be compounded with the rise in unemployment and lack of new jobs resulting from the current economic recession." (E-Health Insurance, 1)
Because such matters should be considered a significant priority, the budgetary focus…...

College sports and recreational activities are traditionally dominated by men. Although there have been dramatic increases in women's involvement in sports at the college level, men continue to make up the majority of the participants and spectators of events and activities. The availability of high-quality recreational facilities for athletic training as well as general fitness and maintenance is necessary and integral to sports programs in colleges. It may be assumed that these types of facilities are mostly utilized by men due to their predominant participation in sports and recreation activities.
Even though participation in campus sports and recreational activities still involves men more than women, this doesn't necessarily mean that men value the importance of sports and recreation in college more than women. Milton (1998) was interested in this concept and investigated beliefs among men and women in college as to whether the development of new, high-quality sports and recreation facilities…...

university education. Critical thinking requires that the thinker consider all elements of an idea, concept or statement. There is a wide range of such elements, including the motives of the communicator, the subtext, the timing and more. The ability to analyze these elements and to criticize them and to make conclusions based on sound inferences about these elements is core to critical thinking (Freeley & Steinberg, 2008). orldview is just one of the different elements that must be considered in the context of critical thinking. However, it is a trap to fall into the idea that all worldviews should be given equal consideration -- some can be substantiated with facts while others cannot; some are more objective while others are more subjective. Indeed, attempts to be more inclusive of worldviews often suffer from the same myopia that characterizes non-inclusion.
As part of their learning in university, students should be exposed…...

Accident Theories
US Jets remains committed firmly to safety-first policy that includes compliance with all pertinent regulations. As the primary aviation regulatory body in the United States, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) controls air traffic and maintains nationwide safety standards. In fact, California codes of regulations are drafted, issued, and enforced in conjunction with the FAA (California Code of egulations, n.d.). Therefore, complying with the FAA will consistently be the number one concern of our company when it comes to the design and manufacture of mid-sized private jets.
Incident and accident theory
As extensions of human factors theory, incident and accident theory introduces additional elements such as ergonomic traps, which are related to management failure, as well as the conscious or unconscious personal errors that can lead to accidents (Cleveland State University Work Zone Safety and Efficiency Transportation Center, n.d.). Likewise, Heinrich's domino theory suggests that accidents do not happen as isolated…...

Thus, the college has not only developed values, but has put them into practice using the preceding methods.
What are the greatest challenges facing the institution?
As previously mentioned, the challenges facing the institution are similar to those facing other institutions, including client services, problem technology, professionalism, and environmental vulnerability (Baldridge et al., 2000, p.128-130). In the area of client services, Readers State College has difficulty meeting the needs of all clients, whose diverse demands are often too great for the college to handle. While "the clients demand and often obtain significant input into the institutional decision-making processes" (Baldridge et al., 2000, p.129), that input is not necessary the same for all clients, as the college has not yet found a good balance regarding how to handle the demands from all clients. In the area of problem technology, the college's problems are much the same, as clients demanding different actions and resources…...

At the University of Michigan, students pursuing a bachelor's degree in business must obtain 120 credit hours, with one-half of those hours comprised of non-business electives. The 60 credit hours are devoted to required and elective business courses. Core business courses are taken during the student's junior year and include: Organizational Behavior Theory in Management, Business Law, Corporate Strategy, Economics of Enterprise, Financial Management, Introductory Probability and Statistics, Computer Information Systems, Marketing Management, Operations Management, and Principles of Financial and Managerial Accounting. As is evident within the description of core courses, computer information systems is the only required course in technology. Elective courses are…...
