Expected Results of Research
It is anticipated that the Act will be shown to have a statistically
significant effect on smaller firms choosing to stay private, and if they
are public already, to choose to either go back to being privately held or
be acquired. Further, it is expected that the results will show that those
small companies who had the greatest drop in market valuation will be the
most likely to be acquired by companies in their industries fulfilling the
roles of market consolidators. This will be because those companies acting
as market consolidators will have purchasing power and the need in building
out their broader market strategies to include smaller, more niche-oriented
firms into their strategic plans. For larger corporations the costs of
being in compliance will be shown as a factor influencing their…...

Enhanced Overservice Law-Enforcement Programs in Preventing Excessive Drinking
The Effectiveness of Enhanced Overservice Law-Enforcement Programs in Preventing Excessive Drinking: esearch Proposal
Excessive drinking has, in recent years, grown to become one of the leading social concerns for policymakers in the United States. It is estimated that the American economy loses over $200 billion dollars every year in harms related to excessive consumption of alcohol. This text presents a proposal for a research study seeking to assess the effectiveness of overservice law-enforcement programs in preventing excessive drinking.
The Effectiveness of Enhanced Overservice Law-Enforcement Programs in Preventing Excessive Drinking
Introduction
Excessive consumption of alcohol is increasingly becoming a serious concern for policymakers and administrators in the U.S. The National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIH) defines excessive drinking as the consumption of more than two drinks per day in the case of men, and one drink per day for women. Currently, excessive drinking stands as…...

Car Advertisements
The automobile industry is one of the largest in the world, and one of the largest advertisers in the world. In the 20th century, and into the 21st, automobiles became the dominant force in the development of the world, giving a high degree of independence to people who previously would have had much more limited means of transportation at their disposal. That freedom proved exceptionally popular, to the point where our entire world was re-designed around the needs of the automobile and its users. Large automobile companies rose quickly to become among the largest companies on the planet, dwarfed only by petroleum companies whose product is essential for most cars. The automobile became ubiquitous. Everywhere in the world, automobile ownership has become a status symbol for people on the lower rungs of the socioeconomic ladder, and for those higher the automobile represents the fulfillment of higher order needs.

Climate Change Outline
The research question for this report will be just how settled the climate change debate is.
Mass majority of scientists agree that anthropogenic (human activity) global warming is contributing to at least some of the increase in temperature around the world
There is some disagreement, however, on how much of the temperature swings are man-induced and how much are naturally occurring.
The theories surrounding global temperature have evolved over the years
There was a period of time in the 1970's where scientists thought that the world was actually cooling. The subject even made the cover of Newsweek.
Through the use of ice cores, trees, dirt erosion patterns and so forth, the warming and cooling of recent millennia have been measured
The hottest recorded years in modern human history have occurred from the late 1990's until now
There have been temperature shifts back and forth for more than a dozen millennia.
Human history has been verified to…...

While green issues remain prominent in the hospitality sector, there is an immense amount of confusion amongst practitioners and academics on certain specifics. The focus of this paper will be sustainability practices in the Dutch hotel industry. The key issue addressed is governmental agencies' impact on implementation of green practices and eco-labels in the hospitality industry. Hotel stimulation to encourage engagement in eco-friendly programmes, as well as governmental promotion through setting a great example and concentrating on procuring sustainable services and products is vital. There is immense momentum for global sustainable development in the hospitality sector. There is a concerted effort on description studies in regard to the current situation concerning sustainability within the hospitality sector, and strategies and best practices that will allow hospitality companies to increasingly engage in sustainability (Van heede, Blomme & Tromp, 2010). The focus of this paper will be on the…...

Division of Emergency Medical Services -- King County, WA
The emergency medical services (EMS) team in King County serves nearly two million people in the local area and states that they provide lifesaving services on average of every three minutes (Public Health - Seattle & King County, 2015). Some of the key data that is included in the 2014 annual report are:
Each year, approximately 1 out of 10 of our residents will use our Medic One/EMS system.
Every year the Medic One/EMS System saves thousands of lives:
In 2013 firefighters responded to more than 172,000 calls in King County.
In 2013, paramedics responded to more than 46,000 calls for advanced life support in King County.
Compared to other cities, cardiac arrest victims are 4 to 5 times more likely to survive.
In 2013, Seattle & King County achieved a 62% survival rate for cardiac arrest. This is currently among the highest reported survival…...

local school district has recently implemented a program designed to support students who are currently in need of training in English as a Second Language (ESL).ESL students come from a country and/or culture where they speak a language other than English in the home. Not eing native English speakers put these students at a disadvantage, oth verally and in written form. The school district would like to measure the effectiveness of ESL programs, and the enefits that the ESL program offers to the students who use it. There are a few other issues that the school would like to see addressed in the study. These are the link etween the program and overall academic progress, the satisfaction level that the students have with the program, and the satisfaction levels of other stakeholder as well (teachers, parents and administrators).
The study will measure the impact the ESL curriculum has had on…...
mlabe made to approximate a chi-square distribution as closely as desired by making the sample size large enough. In this case, students in English as a Second Language classes should constitute a large enough sample size (Bagdonavicius, 2011). After the data has been analyzed, the results will be presented both in written format and in PowerPoint format.
It is extremely important that the participants' privacy is protected. The study participants are children, and the research will require access to their academic records. To ensure privacy, the students will never be contacted by the researcher. The researcher will only receive grades and test results, and these will be codified by student number. No names will be provided to the researcher. Each student who will participate in this study will need a written consent from their parents, guardian, and/or caretaker. A privacy form will be presented to each student in both English and Spanish that will explain the research study's strategic plans and objectives. The privacy form will require a parent's or guardian's signature before the student will be allowed to partake in the study. In addition, the students will be numbered with no personal information gathered; such as name, address, and/or demographics.
Bias will always be present in any type of research, and the researcher(s) in this particular situation will be reminded of that presence periodically throughout the time frame of the study. There are no particular biases for which this study is at significant risk, as the study is purely quantitative in nature. Students throughout the district will be chosen at random to avoid potential bias that might occur if students are selected only from a handful of schools. The sample size should be demographically representative of the population, and the different schools (and teachers) within the district.
Economical and Ethical Issues in Recycling
Economic Issues
There is a general agreement that the U.S. should be undertaking more recycling, with only 34.3% of current waste recycled. The rate is increasing, and while there have been legislative moves, it may be argued that the ethical awareness and economic factors have had a greater impact. The research proposal argues that the dualistic approach to recycling seen in the anthropocentric model can be used to show how and why the take up has been restrained, as there is a need for economic motivations to support the practice. These are now occurring, but there is still room for improvement. By undertaking quantitative research with businesses and consumers the paper proposes the gathering of information that can be statistically analysed to identify the most efficient policy approaches to improve recycling.

The level of waste generated in increasing; it is estimated that in the U.S. approximately 254.1…...
Action Research Proposal The number of school-age English Language Learners in the state of Alberta is increasing at a fast pace. As these students begin studying, they experience a great deal of challenges, which can impact the acquisition and learning of the English language (New York University, 2018). In particular, one of the key challenges faced by these students is pronunciation. What is more, unlike mathematics, English language does not have a material set of rules or guideline as to what sound every letter of the alphabet signifies. For instance, the letter e can be pronounced as e, eh. In addition, the tenses of verbs can also hamper learning. Cultural differences also play a key role in acquisition of the English language (Wold, 2006). There have been deliberations regarding the most efficacious approaches of second language instruction. Picture seeing texts and hearing sounds that do not correspond with those that are…...

Terrorist Threat to California through Mexican Drug Trafficking
The immigration challenges across all the United tates borders often invoke varied responses from both the average citizens and the law enforcement agencies. The cross border migration that has been of greatest concern is the Mexico to UA migration due to the myriad challenges this migration presents to the U..A. The Mexican population residing to the outh of the U.. has had a strained relationship with its northern neighbor over a long period of time owing to the inconsistency of its immigration policies, the distinctly lower socioeconomic status afforded to Mexicans on both sides of the border and the ravages afflicted upon both sides of the border by the U.. sponsored War on Drugs. Though all of these aforementioned factors are relevant, it is the war on drugs that forms the central concern of this research proposal since it has proven persistent…...

The Challenges of Dual Credit: A Research Proposal
Problem Statements
Dual credit or dual enrollment programs “are designed to boost college access and degree attainment, especially for students typically underrepresented in higher education,” (United States Department of Education, 2017, p. 1). With this lofty goal set, it should seem that dual credit programs would be reducing the educational achievement gap. After all, dual credit programs by definition allow all students the opportunity to potentially shorten the amount of time they spend in college, thereby reducing their tuition fees that enable the completion of a degree program. Yet recent research shows that college enrollment and completion gaps may be getting wider, based both on ethnicity and on socioeconomic class (Gewertz, 2017). The results of the RAND study reported by Gewertz (2017) may not be applicable specifically to the state of Hawaii, and yet educational attainment disparities do continue to exist and it is…...
Elder Abuse: The Problem and Proposed Research Study
Introduction
Elder abuse is perhaps one of the most aggravated problems that exists in the modern world affecting old people. More than common afflictions like cardiovascular disease or diabetes, elder abuse is viewed all over the world as a complex and debilitating problem, one that needs decisive and immediate actions from the health care industry, legislators, the social work sector, and concerned citizens. Elder abuse is a problem that thrives all around the world, and as the international population of elderly people grows all over the world, the problem demands immediate action and preventative measures. It is important to acknowledge that what happens to the elderly in this regard is very preventable: it does not have to happen and is the mark of a faltering and in many ways, uncaring society. “This emphasis is appropriate because elder abuse is likely the most widespread problem…...

It is projected that at least 10% of the individuals receiving the survey will respond.
There are a variety of reasons for using qualitative methods in a study such as this one. Even though there are drawbacks to the qualitative method including (but not limited to) the fact that respondents are not known and could be lying, the responses are very subjective, and the questions themselves are quantitative in nature, it is still deemed that the expense and time necessary to employ other methods would be to exorbiant in nature.
It is also determined that there are a number of others studies currently available that can provide data that shows the effectiveness of direct mail advertising, therefore, the focus would be on the sports magazine aspect rather than direct mail per se. Qualitative methods are therefore deemed the most appropriate for this study.

One of the most frustrating aspects about the gun violence debate, which is primarily an American debate due to the fact that the United States experiences far greater amounts of gun violence than most other industrialized nations, is that there has been a lack of research into this topic. The lack of research is not accidental; Congress intentionally froze funding for research into gun violence over 25 years ago, and even enacted prohibitions against doctors and other healthcare workers providing some detailed insights into gun violence. As a result, when researchers wanted....
