The negotiation ended with one of the parties walking out of the room and the problem had to be settled eventually by a ruling from management. This event also had a negative effect on the working relationships between members of the different groups in the debate.
What has become obvious to me since then is that negotiation is a process that requires sensitivity and a search for balance, rather than just an attempt to overwhelm the other party. It also requires intense focus and perception.
I noticed that many of the negotiators entered the process without having a concentrated and clear focus of their aims and not being fully prepared. I realized that the negotiation process can in fact be a very productive process and that it can help to solve problems through mutual understanding. I also came to the conclusion that communication skills are a vital part of the skills…...

professional skills related to the pursuit of my MBA. By taking a step back and viewing the organization as a complex machine, it is easier to understand in a general sense how efficiency and other aspects can be improved. My knowledge of each specific feature of an organization was amplified by breaking down the set of tools, hardware, and other components within a "technical system" and examining points needing improvement. I now feel that I have achieved some degree of progress within my own personal pursuit of education. Prior to this course, I felt more closely associated as an observer, and now I feel I have a much further developed level of control in any potential working environment, and could bring about the development of any smaller-scale business or organization.
Although I relied on previous course knowledge for the completion of this class, there were only specific aspects of the…...

SKILLSSoft Skills/Transferable Skills/Professional Skills in the WorkplaceSoft skills, as Vasanthakumari (2019) points out, refer to a set of personal attributes and skills that individuals possess. Soft skills are important attributes in the work place given that they enhance an individuals career prospects, job performance, and interactions. Essentially, soft skills include communication styles and subtle behaviors that that help an individual gain professional development. This is more so the case given that soft skills could come in handy in the enhancement of interpersonal relations in the workplace. It would also be prudent to note that soft skills are important in the workplace given that they help individuals thrive in a competitive workplace environment (Dean and East, 2019).Despite their importance in professional development, many people lack the relevant soft skills. This is more so the case given that colleges and universities emphasize on teaching technical skills as these are often prioritized as…...

Albini and in Utero
In the audio engineer's quest to produce ever more quality sounds in the studio, the question of authenticity arose. For some musicians who felt that in polishing their material through the use of modern equipment in technology -- through computers that could digitally edit out their mistakes -- the effect was like telling a musical lie. Steve Albini was one such artist and engineer. The moment -- the transitory feeling, even if off key or consisting of a wrong note, a mistake (such as in the tape deck recordings of a young Daniel Johnston playing songs on his piano in the basement of his parents' home) -- was really the only thing that mattered: music was not meant to be captured. And yet here was the technology to do so -- and as the technology advanced, the music was capable of being altered, the moment changed --…...

Skills-Based Pay
Lawler and Ledford (1987) argued twenty-six years ago that skill-based pay was going to become an increasingly popular concept in compensation management. Ledford and Heneman (2011) define skill-based pay as "a compensation system that rewards employees with additional pay in exchange for formal certification of the employee's mastery of skills, knowledge and/or competencies." The authors juxtapose this against a "job-based pay system," defined as a system where employees are entitled to receive their pay even if they are not proficient in their position.
There are two issues with the concept from the outset. The first is that employees should be proficient in their position, since they have been given that position. It makes little sense for an employee to remain in a position with no skills. Trotter (2013) notes that a person's skills and competencies contribute to them receiving the position, at least in any company where merit is taken…...

Some of these causes include shift work/long work hours, sleepiness, social/familial disruptions, vulnerable groups, long-term effects, and injuries. This is an indication that various institutions should focus on the evaluation of the causes of risks faced by nurses at the workplace in order to adopt and integrate quality interventions towards enhancing the safety of the nurses (Alison Trinkoff et al., 2008). One of the effective and influential approaches towards promotion of safety of the nurses is transformation of the working schedule to offer sufficient opportunity for the practitioners to recapture their energies following stressful interaction with the patients.
This is through minimization of the working hours as well as integration of favourable shifts to operate in the favour of the nurses as they seek to enhance their safety. It will also improve concentration levels of the nurses at the workplace thus quality relationship between the patients and nurses in addition…...

Professional Counseling
The relevance of counseling as a helping profession cannot be overstated. This is more so the case taking into consideration the role counseling plays towards the facilitation of the development of not only an individual but also a family or even a group.
Counseling as a Distinct Profession: The History and Philosophy of the Profession
Marini and Stebnicki (2008) point out that although counseling as a term made its first appearance (in print) sometimes in the year 1931, the practice of the same had started earlier on. It is important to note that although the roots of counseling as a helping relationship can be traced to the early omanian and Greek times, the actual development of the counseling profession as we know it today largely started taking place in the late 1800s. In the words of Marini and Stebnicki (2008), "the origins of the counseling profession in the United States have…...

Professional Progress
My professional progress:
I am the Manager, etail Management, Wal-Mart, San Francisco. I joined this branch when it was newly launched in San Francisco about two years back. I have served the Wal-Mart group in several cities of USA. With little over two decades of retail management experience, in my core roles as Manager, etail, I have also been associated with traditional marketing roles like public relations, advertising. I was entrusted to run several loyalty programmes for customers from the detail customer database that we have in our Computer Systems and prepared a 'etail eporting oadmap' which helps in evaluating customer data to have importance across the enterprise. From my experience, I have found that customer metrics are crucial measures which are just as important as metrics that measure product, performance of vendor, or channel. (obinson, 2006)

For members interested in political advocacy to improve the role of women in the workforce, the conference offers opportunities to learn about effective social advocacy techniques. The 2009 National College Conference for omen Student Leaders offers similar opportunities for college-age women. The only requirement for attending the NCCSL is that the student's institution must have an AAU branch and nominate the representative. The AAU's National Girls Collaborative Project (NGCP) tries to subsidize enrichment programs and act as an advocate for younger girls. The program known as Opening Opportunities for Girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) offers 'mini-grants' to local organizations with mentoring and enrichment opportunities for girls in the sciences. The AAU tries to connect with community groups to broaden its mission of educational advocacy and enrichment, as well as creates programs of its own.

Professional Situation Description for Insert Name
My professional career post-baccalaureate in business at George Mason has involved many difficult situations in financial analysis and reporting. The major firm where I have been employed is responsible for communication technologies used by many agencies in the public and private sector. The teams responsible for financial forecasting at this publicly-traded firm have a difficult and dynamic set of requirements to accomplish their objectives. Our forecasting must always keep in mind the following as we provide guidance to support planning:
Research and technology within the industry create obsolescence faster within this industry than typical consumer commercial markets
Government and municipal contracts require different specifics for reporting and contracting than conventional internal policies and procedure
Forecasting requires rate analyses and continuous comparisons to models rather than static data so that senior management can make rapid decisions to insure that capital is working efficiently.
My challenges in financial analysis require both…...
Principals are instrumental in sparking professional dialogue amongst teachers and encouraging critical self-reflection within the minds of individual teachers. All of these elements of reflection and reflexiveness are essential during staff meetings, for a true Professional Learning Community to function as it should.
A good principal is willing to provide an honest evaluation as to how the school is progressing in its mission and not allow the school's reputation to rest upon its past laurels. A principal functions as the strategic planner who determines the long-term goals of the school, and the short-term goals or benchmarks the school must reach to achieve those goals. By setting goals and helping generate a collective sense of mission for all persons at the school, principals create the necessary atmosphere at the school for more effective practices.
Principals also play an important role in facilitating professional development, as the ideal of teachers continuing to learn…...

Professional Accomplishments
He was a college dropout that slept on his friend's dorm room floor, returning coke bottles for five cents a bottle and walking seven miles across town every Sunday night to get a meal at a Hindu temple. As one of the pioneers of Apple Computers, a multi-billion dollar corporation, Steve Jobs has used his drive, ambition and passion to fuel his professional accomplishments.
When I first started at Wells Fargo as a teller, I made about the same as a high school babysitter. Undeterred, I put my best foot forward, cultivating customer relation skills and basic accounting principles to move forward- like Steve Jobs, I aspired to be something more. Over my 16 months at Well Fargo, my aspirations bore fruit in the form of four promotions, when making twelve dollars was no longer the standard and a base salary took its place. Simultaneously, I earned my securities licensing.…...
" The collection of anthems, performed by the State Academic Choir of the Latvian choirs on a CD, is a one of a kind.
Professional choirs have a long history and represent decades of work on the part of their conductors. A case in point is the Phoenix oys Choir. Even though the youth are only in the choir from ages 7 through 14, the conductor is able to create a top-notch professional singer from each of them.
Since 1948, the Phoenix oys Choir has been one of these unique choirs which draws from a large repertoire of favorites, to tailor each performance under the direction of Dr. Harvey K. Smith, who led the choir for forty years, and Georg Stangelberger, who has led them since 1999. The 170 members perform shows throughout the world while the choir provides music education to the members..

In that survey, employers in the field of "Health Care and Pharmaceutical" were queried as to the "Top Five Skills That Are Attractive in MBA Graduates." Since my concentration is Healthcare Management, this portion of the survey is of keen interest. Those top five skills, which I believe I possess, include: 1) "ability to think analytically"; 2) "ability to think strategically"; 3) "leadership skills"; 4) "oral communication skills"; 5) and "interpersonal skills."
Moreover, among the Healthcare/Pharmaceutical skills that employers in this survey believe should "be strengthened" through MBA programs, are: "ability to make decisions with imperfect information"; "ability to think strategically"; and "written communication skills."
In conclusion, I wish to address another question which was posed for this essay, "What are your concerns about your ability to be successful in an MBA program?" My concerns are related to how high I can go in my MBA program scholastic achievement -- to what…...

When I think about what I have learned in my professional skills course, I think of those things that my parents would have called “soft skills.” To me, they are the factors that make the difference between someone looking good on a resume and someone doing well in an interview and on the job. They include several factors that relate to how well a person can work in a team, as well as factors that demonstrate someone’s ability to manage time.
Time management is probably the most important skill I have learned from this course. I never had....
