Abraham H. Maslow and Douglas M. McGregor both believed that in order for people to work to their full potential, they're basic needs have to be satisfied. (Herzberg, 1964) Douglas McGregor also put forth the concept that people's management-behavior is dependent upon their view of human beings and work. (McGregor, 1960) rganizational design concepts have been constantly evolving since the last fifty years. Change is good and should be used as a strategy for organizations to achieve their goals and objectives. (McNamara, 2003)

There are some disadvantages to the transactional leadership style, however. This style is often considered to be inferior in times of crisis when strong transformation of the business is required. Should FedEx's core business move beyond the "cash cow" stage of maturity, the company may lack the vision to radically transform itself (for example, if jet fuel costs become too high to offer overnight courier service profitably). The company has succeeded thus far with its leadership style in part because it has had the same leader for its entire history -- the ability of FedEx to develop transformational leaders has not yet been tested. In addition, the company has been able to utilize their current business model profitably since the years following its inception, and there has been no crisis that threatened this cash flow significantly.
That said, FedEx does have within its leadership style the ability to make changes quickly.…...

The blame for the demise of Hostess has been squarely put at the union's feet and their contracts. After conducting a close examination on the company, I have realized that free labor would have led to the death of Hostess; the striking employees only enhanced the inevitable. In this situation, people on the right track have pointed fingers at greedy unions. However, we must acknowledge that the two sides must reach a realistic agreement in a collective bargaining setting. Unions reflect the demands and wishes of employees and are natural to engage in negotiations in order for their demands to be fulfilled. Companies must communicate accurate company data with the union and companies should provide clear answers when they cannot meet the demands of employees. A positive relationship with workforce cannot be built by asking employees to give significant amounts of benefits back and pay while…...

Partnership Management
As the workplace and management techniques have developed over the decades, employees have enjoyed an increasingly powerful position in their companies. According to Eisler and Montuori (2001), the changes in both business and its surrounding environment in terms of society, the economy and the environment have necessitated new paradigms of the employer-employee relationship. It is no longer sufficient to mindlessly follow traditional methods such as marionette management. Instead, the workplace needs to be assessed in terms of which management styles will most efficiently drive the specific business.
Partnership management is one of these new paradigms. In partnership management, it is acknowledged that employees are more than entities to perform specific functions for a specific time during the day. In this management style, employees are recognized as an important part of business growth and success. As such, they are expected to provide input that would be valuable for the future success…...

Fool-proofing a service operation.
In the banking industry, a significant service industry in any country, optimized operations are essential to ensure that the public has maximum confidence in the operators of this industry. ank of America and its operations have been selected for discussion in this study. The bank has grown tremendously in the past few years. CEO, Ken Lewis realized that the bank could gain a wider market share and customer base if it was able to streamline its operations and the level of service. Incorporating concepts of process management was considered essential to the improvement process. (Cox and ossert, 2005) Some of the tools such as six-sigma were used to ensure that a high level of quality was maintained in the service that the provided to the customer.
ank of America recognized that customer satisfaction was paramount in ensuring that the customer was loyal and would use the bank…...

Comparison pricing is the first place to start when setting your price: evaluating the competitive market price for the service. Such information can be gained by surveys, calling other institutions, or simple networking.
Alternately, pricing can be calculated by calculating demonstrative or overhead costs that gives you the cost per child per year added to which are taxes, benefits and salaries for each of the teachers, the total divided by the number of children in that age group at the center.
A third method of calculating follows the "full cost of quality care" where quality and target goal are taken into account and parents are charged a premium.

The coercive style: decisions are made top-down with little emphasis on individual ideas; it is best used in situations of crisis, but in the long run, it negatively affects the employees' morale levels
The authoritative style: sets clear goals and directions; rewards based on performances; individuality; it is stimulating for the dedicated employees; does not work if the manager is too demanding or when the employees work in teams
The affiliative style: based on the creation of a pleasant working environment; may lack control and stimulation; high performances only in a compact and hard working group, sharing common goals
The democratic style: employees' ideas are listened to; team work and participation are encouraged; could create a pleasant environment, but may lack control and direction
The pacesetting style: rapid pace of work, high expectations and performance-based rewards; might stifle creativity and generate a tense environment
The coaching style: based on roles and responsibilities; delegates and sets…...

Management Style
Leadership and talent retention are important H-related aspects in today's business environment given the increased changes and competitiveness of the modern business environment (Zhang et al., 2015). Despite the lack of a single universally appropriate management style, the authoritative style is arguably the best management style. An authoritative manager tends to communicate an organization's mission and vision effectively, provides organizational direction, and clearly articulates expectations. While considered an authority, an authoritative leader encourages subordinates or followers to utilize suitable approaches towards accomplishing organizational goals. Authoritative style is the best management style with regards to providing organizational direction through effective communication, showing sensitivity to employees and ensuring perfect execution of tasks.
Need for the Best Management Style
Today's business environment is increasingly changing and characterized by increased competition between companies. In light of the rapid technological advances, business organizations are increasingly operating in a challenging and evolving environment (Gonos & Gallo,…...

management style for an entire country simply because there are too many possible variables. The citizens of a nation as large as Australia vary greatly from one individual to another - and even a single manager varies in style from one day to the next or one project to the next. Moreover, the management style of one industry is not likely to be the same for another industry with very different needs and goals.
However, these caveats aside, it is possible if one concentrates on a single industry to make some generally true statements about the management style of that industry throughout Australia. The particular industry chosen for this project may actually show greater uniformity of style than other Australian industries do since the topic - organic farming - is in fact one that tends to attract people who are like minded to begin with.
We should perhaps begin with some…...

Blended management was born of diversity, namely the increase of women in managerial position. It takes a blend of gender styles in terms of managerial interation to manage everyone in one's workplace equally and fairly yet forcefully and directly. Sharpening one's personal talents in a blended style means honing in on once-neglected talent such as traditionally 'feminine attributes' of strong communication skills, the ability to be empathetic to the multifaceted concerns of one's employees, taking a grass-roots rather than a top-down approach that solicits opinions of others rather than management (including subordinates and the organization's customers) when necessary, a willingness to reinvent the rules of the organization when the rules of the marketplace change, and a willingness to combine all of these assets with an obsession with customer preferences. (Griffin, 2001)
These female or supposedly softer skilled attributes may be combined with more traditionally masculine and self-serving traits on the…...

Marriott International is one of the largest hotel chains worldwide. With its headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, the organisation has over 5,700 properties spread across more than 100 countries around the world. Throughout its nine decades of operation, the organisation has undergone numerous changes in terms of management, processes, as well as corporate and business strategy. This paper discusses a number of change aspects relating to the organisation. These include two key changes in the organisation's management style, role of senior management in preparing the organisation for its most recent change, use of vendors and spokespersons, an innovation that could positively impact on the organisation's employees and customers, as well as the organisation's ability to adapt to the changing needs of customers and the market environment.

In a large measure, these concepts reflect the problems that have accompanied increased diversity as both a consequence and a cause of a great many social problems" (1999, p. 1). In this regard, Naylor defines culture as being "the learned way (or ways) of belief, behavior, and the products of these (both physically and socially) that is shared (at least to some degree) within human groups and serves to distinguish that culture group from another learning different beliefs and behaviors" (1999, p. 2). It is important to note as well that "cultural diversity is not restricted to particular nationalities; it includes issues of gender and individuals with disabilities" (Russell & McLean, 1999). Because there are some fundamental differences between cultural beliefs and behaviors, it is not surprising that cross-cultural differences can have a profound effect on organizational performance, and these issues are discussed further below.

My leadership style: ealism-quality
I would describe my leadership style up to this point as a 'realism-quality' leader. This has partially been a function of the types of leadership positions I have been called upon to occupy over the course of my career. Because my leadership positions were generally at the entry level, I was unable to set policy or focus upon injecting creativity into the organization. Instead, I was required to encourage my subordinates to meet specific organizational benchmarks. Meeting financial and quality standards was demanded from those under my charge, so I had to stress the need to meet these practical, definable goals rather than focus on personal development. "A unique way of assessing one's culture is to find the monetary value of an institution's culture" (Mott 2008:90). Given that the organizations in which I have functioned have measured productivity as a function of physical…...

A Critical Analysis of Italian and ritish Cultures and Management Styles in Tourism:

Italy is a country in a stage of transition. It is no longer a predominantly agrarian society nor yet a fully industrialized economy. It is also a land of striking contrasts, with no unified social or economic patterns. As a society, Italy is centuries old; as a modern sovereign state it was born but yesterday. The very nature of the political unification process probably accounts for some of the disunity. It was not a broad-based movement but occurred predominantly under the auspices of one family, the Savoys, who succeeded in expanding their influence and political rule throughout the country (Rosenzweig & Nohria, 1994). The masses participated only vicariously through national figures and agitators, such as Garibaldi, Mazzini, and Cattaneo, whose dreams of a republican democracy based…...

Culture and conflict management are two interconnected concepts that play a significant role in how individuals and societies deal with disputes and disagreements. Conflict management refers to the strategies and processes used to resolve conflicts and promote positive outcomes, while culture influences the way people perceive and respond to conflict.
Research has shown that culture can have a profound impact on how individuals engage in conflict management. For example, different cultures may have varying norms and values regarding the expression of emotions, the importance of maintaining harmony, and the use of direct versus indirect communication. These cultural differences can affect the....

Relational Dynamics in Communication, Social Interaction, and Conflict Management: A Literature Review
Introduction:
Relational dynamics are fundamental aspects of human interactions, encompassing a complex interplay of communication, social behavior, and conflict resolution strategies. This literature review examines how scholarly literature investigates relational dynamics in these three key dimensions.
Communication in Relational Dynamics:
Verbal and Nonverbal Communication: Studies explore the role of verbal cues (e.g., tone, choice of words) and nonverbal cues (e.g., body language, eye contact) in conveying emotions, intentions, and power dynamics in relationships. (Mehrabian, 1968; Rogers & Woodall, 1989)
Relational Dialectics: Relational dynamics are often characterized by tensions and contradictions, known....
