Leadership Discussion
Leadership is everyone's business it is for women, men and even children. We therefore need leadership now in everything that we do be it in our homes, organizations we work in, in church and many more Ares (Leadership Now, 2014). This means that understanding leadership is a vital thing for everyone. Many treatments of leadership have their focus on high-impact leaders but fascinating as these people are they operate in unique environments that most people will never see .the limitation about getting our leadership principle from carrying out studies on the group of the elite is that they are not so many and each and every one of them is in an extremely different situation. Therefore studies on leadership mainly focus on middle and lower level leaders in organizations (American Psychological Association, pg. 474).This paper will look at two different modern leadership approaches with examples of where they are…...

Leadership and You
Leaders play a crucial role in the society and organizations, especially with regards to helping the organization achieve its objectives and purposes. These individuals use varying approaches to leadership that inform their practices in motivating organizational members towards the accomplishment of common objectives. Through their practices, leaders not only influence the behaviors of their followers or subordinates but also help in shaping organizational culture. The use of different leadership styles and philosophies is also attributed to the difference in concept and practices of the leader. Moreover, leaders can improve their effectiveness through adopting strategies that address the weaknesses of their leadership approaches since every leadership style or approach has certain weaknesses.

My Leadership Approach, Case study Apple Mac Legal Center
The quality of organizational culture and output depends on the nature leadership approach instituted by the leader. Ideally, a good leadership approach that seeks to energize various departments with intent steer a collective productivity. I realized these things during my stay at the Apple Mac Legal Center. During my pursuit for a desired organization culture, I realized that the Apple Mac Legal Center was facing two core problems, one related to communication and the other on sustainability. While developing a leadership approach, I realized that there were decisive considerations one position, charisma, influence, and situation. This reflection will attempt to prove that my leadership approach would mitigate Apple Mac Legal Center organizational culture problems.

My Leadership Approach We all have diverse and unique leadership styles and approaches to leadership. In essence, my styles of leadership are essentially drawn from Goleman’s six situational styles. It is important to note that although Goleman is of the opinion that the said leadership styles ought to be customized to the situation, a person could be accustomed to any of the six styles of leading highlighted (Ahlstrom & Bruton, 2009). Towards this end, I am more of a coaching/pacesetting leader. As a coaching leader, I tend to be more focused on being conversational and aim to create a good rapport with those that I engage. In so doing, I seek to develop the skills and capabilities of others while at the same time playing the encouraging role. My approach is true to the assertion of Ahlstrom and Bruton (2009) that “this style is more like a counselor than a traditional…...

Psychodynamic Approach Survey
This is approach to leadership is based on personality study and change by the leader and those who are under leadership. According to Psychodynamic Approach Survey, a leader is a person who is supposed to learn from analyzing and realizing the personality and reaction of the people who are being led so that he or she can know how best to handle them. A leader who has borrowed from the Psychodynamic Approach Survey is not worried of how the followers perceive him and understand him. He is not interested in how to change his personality so that he or she can appeal to the people. Nonetheless, such a leader is focused on observing the behaviors and the personalities of the followers, making sure that he captures the way they react, think, interact, and do everything, as a basis for influencing them to act in a way…...

representation of leadership in literary works is not identical to the representation of leaders. To take one of the most famous examples in English literature, King Lear may be the highest-ranking leader in the Shakespeare tragedy that bears his name, but his actions are neither wise nor principled; Lear's Fool, the court-jester, arguably displays more leadership over the course of the drama. Examining literary representations of leadership in the past two decades, therefore, will not always entail examining stories about powerful or influential people. In outlining a research proposal to examine how leadership issues are illuminated by recently published works, it is crucial to understand that a proper survey will include a mix of works. Some of these works will examine directly the highest leadership roles, like that of a commander-in-chief, while other works will illuminate leadership from the perspective of the ordinary soldiers who follow that lead. This…...

Leadership Style of oehner
John oehner, the speaker of the House, is one of the most reputed men among the Gang of Six. oehner has always raised his voice when matters of taxation were discussed in the Congress or the House. At the same time, he has adopted a leadership style that has set him apart from other politicians and has made him popular among the Republicans as well as the Democrats.
oehner has always believed in politics of consensus and that is what defines his leadership approach. However, he was still unable to convince Obama when he tried to negotiate the "grand bargain" on the ever growing federal debt. Obama was also seen to accuse oehner for not being able to pass a bill in his chamber, since it was rewritten so many times. In the middle of these accusations oehner, the Speaker of the House, also left the floor two…...

Leadership is the ability of influencing individuals or groups for attainment of particular goals. It is the ability of managing interpersonal behaviour by motivating others. There are a number of approaches to leadership, but these can broadly be categorized as Behaviouristic theory, Traits theory, Charismatic theories of leadership and transformational leadership. For the purpose of this assignment, we have chosen transformational leadership approach.
Transformational Leadership
The process of transforming and changing individuals is termed as transformational leadership. In simple terms, transformational leadership can be defined as the ability to make people improve, change and led. Transformational leadership involves assessment of subordinates' needs, motives and giving them due value. Thus, it can be said that a leader having characteristics of transformational leader has the ability to increase the performance of company by giving due value to the employees/subordinates. (Hesselbein and Cohen 1999)
Transformational leadership has four factors which are commonly named as "four I's."…...

The integrative approach is almost always used in real world leadership. No leader succeeds solely on the basis of traits, solely on behaviors or solely be adapting to situations. Leaders use all of the tools at their disposal. Consider Apple under Steve Jobs. Jobs had some fantastic traits as a leader, particularly with respect to his vision for the company, its products and how society would use those products. But Apple never succeeded solely on vision. Jobs' behaviors served to reinforce his vision and the corporate culture. His formal and informal power was constantly leverage to make the company better. He used power in dealing with suppliers, partners, and consumers as well, all of which has contributed to Apple's success. The only approach not used at Apple under Jobs was situational leadership, because the company never really changed its leadership style to fit the circumstance. But like any good leader,…...
Leadership in Organizations
Leader-behavior approach
Leadership refers to the process of influencing other people towards attainment of organizational or group goals. Leadership entails three key factors: first, leadership is a process of social influence. It is non-existent without followers and a leader. Second, leadership requires that the followers act voluntarily. The nature of compliance is voluntary thus differentiating leadership from other forms of influence based on formal authority. Finally, leadership elicits behavior in followers that are goal directed in an organized setting (Griffiin, 2010).
Most organizational sciences focus on the topic of leader-behavior approach. There is enough documentation showing that thousands of leader-behavior approach studies have undergone publication. However, the precise nature and correlation of leadership with key criterion variables such as commitment, subordinate satisfaction, and performance remains uncertain (Green & obinson, 2010). This paper focuses on leader-behavior research approach for studying leadership. It also incorporates the strengths and weaknesses of the leadership…...

Two of the most pressing issues in corporate leadership today include gender equality and labor rights. In "Women See Slow Progress in Leadership," Gay (2013) cites numerous empirical studies showing that the glass ceiling remains nearly impenetrable at the highest levels of management. The report cites the work-life balance ideal as the most common reason offered for why many women are either opting out of the CEO lifestyle, or are not considered ready or willing to handle the challenges and pressures of senior leadership.

Its ethical labor rights practices are helping gain positive publicity for Costco, showing that ethical…...

Leadership
Over the decades, much research has been devoted to studying leadership traits and the qualities of an effective leader. Some of the approaches to assessing leadership include personality theory, as well as the qualitative approach to leadership research.
In the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, (1988), D.K. Simonton used the personality basis of leadership research that looks at the effectiveness of a leader as a result of particular personality traits. For this study, Simonton carried out an archival analysis of the personalities and personal histories of thirty-nine American presidents, and related that to their perceived effectiveness as Heads of State. An analysis of eight-two separate personality characteristics were ultimately reduced to five general categories; "The interpersonal, charismatic, deliberative, creative, and neurotic styles." (Simonton, 1988).
Simonton makes the point that research into leadership is frequently concerned with the question of whether a great leader is born, or becomes a great leader according…...

Most conclusions on this approach were vague or indecisive in terms of social, psychological or mental significance (ice, 1978, 1981; Graen et al., 1972; Ashour, 1973).
Furthermore, over the years, many scholars have come to the realization that leadership is situational and hence there are many realistic settings like the environment, the employees, the resources, etc. that determine the characteristics needed in a leader as well as his/her business approach (Hershey and Blanchard, 1977, 1984). This is why it is important to first understand the different types of scenarios that a leader can face and then use those scenarios as the foundation on which most leadership techniques and approaches are built. This idea of leadership being situational is very helpful in outlining the methods through which leadership can be developed and has taken up a good part of the last three-decade of research (Mckenna, Boyd and Yost, 2007).
There were many…...

A conceptual framework is a type of tool used to analyze a topic. Generally, in an academic context a conceptual framework is going to fall into one of several broad categories, including a working hypothesis, pillar questions, descriptive categories, models for decision making, or a formal hypothesis. Deciding what approach you want to take to your research topic of how women leaders respond in time of crises in the field of education will help you decide what approach you want to take, which will guide your development of a conceptual framework.
