Canada's international education strategy focuses on attracting foreign learners, encouraging Canadian students to gain international experience, and fostering global ties and cultural exchanges. In a world that has become increasingly interconnected through globalization, the ability to navigate multiple cultures, languages, and markets is invaluable. It is with this awareness that Canada actively seeks to position itself as a destination of choice for international students.
Since the inception of its international education strategy, Canada has witnessed remarkable growth in its international student population. The strategy plays a crucial role in the countrys efforts to promote a more vibrant cultural exchange and to bolster its workforce and economy. According to the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), the number of international students in Canada grew by 119% between 2010 and 2017, with the economic impact of international students in Canada totaling $15.5 billion in GDP in 2016 alone (CBIE, 2018).

International Students
"There is never a time when I miss home the most than when I look outside and I see feet of snow on the ground. I don't think I will actually get used to the weather in the U.S.A. I always seem to forget to bring heavy coats and buy myself thick useful boots. I do have come to really enjoy the snow. Who would have said that about me just two years ago? No one! For me, and I bet for many Mexicans, living through this cold is just not something in our plans," writes Laura Herrejon, an international student in the U.S. from Mexico (Herrejon). The experiences of international students in the U.S. are in the eyes of students in the U.S. quite incredible; but, through the lens of the international students, there are many struggles that people are unaware of. It is important for students to…...

Acculturation of International Students in the United States
The objective of this study is the examination of Saudi Arabian international students and their adjustment to the culture of the U.S.
According to the work of Razek and Coyner (2011) the number of students from Saudi Arabia that study in the U.S. "quintupled from 3,035 students in 2005 to 15,910 students I 2010 due to a fully funded Saudi government scholarship. As students originating in a cultural background differing from the prevailing principles of their higher education institutions, Saudi students face several challenges." (Razek and Coyner, 2011) The experiences of Saudi Arabian students in the U.S. can be differentiated by their "experience, religious and political factors." (Razek and Coyner, 2011, p.44)
Literature Review
arriers faced by Saudi Arabian students include "linguistic barriers" and challenges related to transition to their foreign educational institution including challenges in locating accommodations and day-to-day life necessities and acquisition of academic…...

Soon my journey started and I moved to the United States to study. My aim was to receive the best education money can provide and to face new challenges. This event that occurred in my life helped mold me in many ways. It has polished my character and my thoughts. At first I did not realize it but today as I sit back in my chair and think about the past I know it helped me a lot and prepared me regarding what I was about to face. In my school I was a new face and clearly there was a huge cultural difference between me and the local students there. First couple of months I did not have any friends except for Mark, a Chinese whose family was living in the United States for a very long time. Mark was a nice person in whom I could see…...
international student who has lived in the United States for two years. My first year in the States was spent at ESL school, during which I learned how to speak, read, and write English. Although I still have some difficulty with the language and am not yet fluent, I look forward to improving my English skills as I stay in the country. I have been attending junior college for the past year, and have enjoyed a rich and dynamic social life. I enjoy my classes and the people at my school, but I am ready for a change. I would like to pursue different curriculum than that offered at my junior college. The education I have received provided a broad set of courses that allowed me to improve my English skills and learn the basics of different subjects. My time at junior college prepared me for the challenges of…...
graduate studies in the USA, and have been here for 8 years. It was difficult for me to interact with the American people because it was a polarized interaction. When I first landed on American soil, I was hosted by an American family. There was a 10-year-old daughter in the family that hosted me. The distinction of our culture from theirs and the general approach and beliefs became apparent when I witnessed the girl's mother give her cold orange juice; though the girl had contracted flu. The Chinese believe that people who feel unwell should avoid cold drinks, believing that it aggravates the affliction. I had internalised the precaution from both family and friends back home. Indeed, people in China would disapprove serving cold juice/water to a sick person; particularly when it is flu. Concerned, I thought that I should speak out about the issue, I suggested that the…...

etention of International Students
The value of a college education is continually stressed today as an essential component of success in life. However, merely encouraging students to attend college is not enough: measures of student retention are far more critical in assessing the success of an academic program. Universities in Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom have all had trouble retaining students, particularly from historically underrepresented groups (Lau 2003). The consequences of low retention rates are not simply grave for the individual, but also for society, given the advantages a professional degree can convey. For example, in the profession of engineering, from "1983 and 2002, the percentage of women among bachelor degree recipients went from 13.3% to only 20.9% [2]. In addition, the retention rates for female engineering students are substantially lower than their male counterparts" (Franchetti, avn & Kuntz 2010). A lack of female and minority representation in…...

Higher Education: Ethics of International Student ecruitment
In recent years, the number of students crossing national borders in pursuit of education has increased significantly. This phenomenon is also referred to as 'global student mobility' and it can be attributed to the students' desire for migration, the inability to find study opportunities in their home countries, and the desire to improve their employability in their home countries. According to the National Association for College Admission Counseling, NACAC (2014), enrolments of international students at institutions of higher learning have more than quadrupled over the last three decades, from a total of 1.1 million in 1985 to 4.5 million in 2012. In fact, global mobile population is expected to exceed 7 million in 2025. Wilkins and Huisman (2011) state that the United States, United Kingdom and Australia are the three most popular destinations for international students and they account for almost 44% of students…...

Personal Statement
I grew up in a business-oriented family. While some children talk about what they did in school over dinner, from an early age I was involved in discussing my family's business every evening. Instead of how to throw a baseball, my father and grandparents taught me how to interpret the share index numbers that flashed across the television screen. I looked forward to opening up my own business when I grew up rather than the usual childish fantasies of becoming a superhero. To me, businessmen were superheroes.
I was determined to do all that was necessary to prepare me for a future in the new global marketplace. After graduating from high school I made the difficult but necessary decision to leave home and study in America to prepare me for my future career in finance. America was the logical choice: although the initial period of adjustment was challenging, I learned…...
It is very difficult understanding the class assignments. Sometimes they are very complex and I get worried that I will not be able to do my assignments. I do not know if I would have made it without the international assistant and would have to go home again.
When I met my international assistant and the world was much brighter. The student was there to guide me and teach all the things you need when first arriving at a college, such as getting my dorm room in place, helping me get a new cell phone, and showing me how to get around Boston. This student also answered my many questions about Americans. I wanted to fit in as best I could, but it is difficult when you look and act differently than a lot of the other people. I learned how I was both similar and different to the Americans…...
This research will fill in a gap that was discovered in the literature review. There have been many, even in an academic setting, that have made comments regarding the effects of email on the student environment. However, there have been no significant studies to substantiate these claims. This study will fill in the existing gap in research and will examine the actual importance of email to the academic setting.
Chapter 2: Literature eview
The importance of technology in the academic setting was an accepted fact from the inception of the internet. However, there have been few academic studies that have attempted to quantify its impact on student lives and success. In order to understand the importance of email and its impact on students lives, one must examine several areas of academic research on the topic. It has been implied that self-esteem and a feeling of satisfaction play an important role in…...

International Student Concerns for Administration
Were I the Director of the International Student Office at a college or university, there are numerous things that I could do to prepare for the various crisis situations that occur. Perhaps the most salient of these pertains to the longstanding and recent trend of sexual violence enacted against women on collegiate campuses. In addition to the lengthy tradition of such occurrences, there has been a spat of instances of such activity within the past year on college campuses. Although it might not be possible to prevent any acts of rape or data rape from occurring ever again on my particular campus, it would likely behoove both myself and the international students on campus to go over some of the statistics and situations in which these incidences do occur. For instance, international students might not necessarily have knowledge about the recent trend of sexual violence enacted…...
International Political Economy and Globalization
1- Exercise your reasoning skills by using clear points and illustrations from Global Trade and Economy Industries, give two or more reasons which justify the definitions of Globalization. Use a reasonable meaning regardless of its rigidity and typical nature.
Globalization refers to the growing international dependency of worldwide nations and organizations as a result of cross-border trading of amenities, cultures, technological concepts as well as information. (Mingst and Arreguin 2011. 161)
Furthermore, the basic principle of globalization originates from the comparative advantage model. This model is of the notion that nations that are renowned globally to produce certain commodities are at an advantage of exporting those commodities to nations that are not capable of generating such goods. On the other hand, the less capable nation is also able to trade what it is best able to produce to the former nations. This results in trade exchanges between nations…...
Only a few decades ago, China was a struggling economy. It is much newer in the free market economy system as compared to the already established economical giants, given the country's communist history. China, a country with an extremely high population, put its resources to its best possible advantage and that was something which contributed towards the country's rapid growth. China has one of the cheapest labor and energy and power resources available for its production. As a result, the industries can achieve economies of scale and thus can cut down on their cost of production. As a result, China enjoys a greater absolute advantage over its competitors. Importers around the world have realized the fact that importing goods from China is relatively much cheaper as compared to imports from other developed economies. These cheaper imports allow them a greater profit margin. Moreover, given the fragile economic conditions and declining…...
