Marketing the National Wrestling Hall of Fame
Pages: 4 Words: 1308

Marketing
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame is located in Stillwater, OK. The objective of this marketing plan is to double attendance and revenues this year. The plan recognizes that this is a major challenge, but with the right marketing strategy, these objectives can be achieved. The tactics will focus on three areas -- promotions, product and special events. With respect to promotions, we want to encourage visitors who are in Oklahoma City or Tulsa to make the trip to Stillwater, so promotions will focus on making the town itself more attractive to visitors. The product will be tweaked, in particular to provide a more interactive experience. In addition, special events will be added, to draw more people to the hall.

Our offering is differentiated in that we are the only major sports hall of fame in Oklahoma, and in Stillwater. This means that for visitors to the region, we have a…...

Pages: 2 Words: 580

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: Four Contemporary Artists hat Will Likely Be Successful in the Future
It is difficult to determine which artists will continue to have an impact on society and release music that appeals to audiences aesthetically and financially. Moreover, continuously changing tastes require that a recording artist create music that will stand the test of time and continue to appeal to audiences. Given the changing world of the recording industry -- one where artist development is no longer a priority -- it is important for an artist to know who they are and what they represent before they are even introduced to the public. Regardless on the number of albums that are released by an artist or group, induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is contingent on said artist making a contribution that changes or enhances music as an art form. ake the Sex…...

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees come from four distinct categories including performers, non-performers, early influences, and side men. For the purposes of this evaluation in which four current and new artists will be analyzed, emphasis will be placed on artists and/or groups that may potentially be nominated in the "performers" category in the future. In order for an artist or group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they must have released their first album within the past 25 years, with an evaluation made on the "influence and significance of the artists' contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll" (Induction Process, n.d.).

One of the most popular new artists currently in the spotlight is Canadian artist, Justin Bieber. Bieber's debut album, My World, was released in November 2009 and was certified platinum in the U.S. two months later. Moreover, Bieber was able to promote himself and his music before the release of his debut album and was the first solo artist in Billboard history to have four singles among the top 40 before his album was even released. Bieber was also able to turn his current success into box office gold through the release of the documentary/concert film, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, which not only further promoted him as an artist, but also demonstrated the appeal of Bieber beyond the scope of the musical realm (Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, 2010).

Moving across the border to the U.S., it can be argued that Lady Gaga has also had an impact on music and society. Lady Gaga, nee Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, released her first studio album, The Fame, in August 2008. Like Bieber, Lady Gaga has had a great appeal success in the realm of popular music. While her debut album was full of synthpop influenced hits such as "Just Dance" and "Poker Face," Lady Gaga's subsequent albums have advocated equality and acceptance in society, especially when it comes to current social issues such as bullying and issues affecting the LGBT community. Moreover, Lady Gaga is able to express her artistic vision beyond the realm of music and become a fashion icon through the wild ensembles that she puts together. It is likely that in the future, the controversies that arise from Lady Gaga's music, artistic expression, and

Ethical Standard and Drugs
Pages: 3 Words: 1083

Cleansing the Baseball Hall of Fame would do nothing but create an empty building in Cooperstown. The Baseball Hall of Fame categorically cannot ban steroids or any other drugs because a substantial number, possibly even the majority, of the men featured in Cooperstown used some kind of drug. As Chafets points out, "the greatest stars anyone has ever seen" were on the juice, and their names are in the Hall of Fame. Suddenly decrying the entry of people like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens is hypocritical, and sends the wrong message. If the whole goal of the anti-doping movement is to set the right example to young people, then the Baseball Hall of Fame should start by setting an example of honesty. The Baseball Hall of Fame should allow steroids, and should even consider an exhibit on the use of drugs in baseball in order to have a more open…...

Mozart Composer for the Ages Wolfgang Amadeus
Pages: 5 Words: 1497

Mozart: Composer for the Ages
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756 in Salzburg. His full name as recorded on his Baptismal certificate is (in Latin) Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilis Amadeus Mozart. Though seven children were born in the family only Wolfgang and his elder sister survived infancy. Both were instructed in the ways of music by their father. Wolfgang showed early signs of being a prodigy.

His father Leopold was a music teacher and composer and passed on his love of music to his son, encouraging both of his children to perform. Mozart surprised his father at an early age by drafting his own composition, without encouragement (Deutsch, 1965).

Leopold took the children on extensive tours of Europe, having them perform in the Bavarian, Vienna, and Prague Courts. The duo was the equivalent of today's child-stars. Their touring led Mozart to meet important musicians like J.C. Bach. In ome, Mozart heard Allegri's…...

Conclusion:

Professional football is, by all accounts, a violent sport whose participants frequently suffer significant physical injuries on the playing field. Because of the nature, frequency, and intensity of the collisions inherent to the game, especially at the professional level, the effects of football injuries often persist long after retirement. Most insidious are the cumulative effects of repeated cerebral concussions, only recently identified as a specific injury when they occur, especially with…...

hank aaron
Pages: 3 Words: 1075

Hank Aaron is a household name in baseball, one of the most important and influential players in any sport. The reasons for Hank Aaron's success go far beyond his athletic abilities and talents as a player -- for which he is obviously renowned -- but to his sportsmanship, his civil rights activism, and for his overall character. Aaron contributed tremendously to the sport of baseball by injecting his values and ideals into the game.
Born Henry Louis Allen, Hank was born in Mobile, Alabama in what has widely been described as a "humble" and economically underprivileged circumstances ("Hank Aaron," n.d.). Segregation and overt, politically and socially sanctioned racism was a part of life in the America that Hank knew. Hank admitted he was bitten by the baseball bug at a young age, and was already "showing prowess" when he was just four years old (Vascellaro 2). Clearly a child prodigy athlete,…...

Rihanna is certainly a controversial individual and she appears to be well-acquainted with what sells in the present. While Lady Gaga is certainly interesting, it seems that she is taking things too far and that her artistic style goes beyond music and into other spheres of influence. In contrast, Rihanna actually focuses on music in addition to selling an image involving sex, violence, rebellion, and glamour. She practically appears to be the embodiment of the early twenty-first century, taking into account that this time period has been all about return of retro attitudes while embracing open minded and even exaggerated thinking.

One needs to keep in mind that it would be wrong to compare artists that are likely to enter the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as they have each come up with a unique style and have provided society with a series of characteristics that no one else was…...

Pete Rose

Few names in baseball stir as much controversy and create as much passion as the name Pete Rose. His career is unarguably outstanding. However, the verdict still seems to be out regarding his ethics. The fact that he bet on games really isn't the issue, most people believe and accept that he did. The fact that he was banned for life from baseball, although most people feel it was far too harsh a punishment for his crime, isn't the issue. hat is the issue is his place in baseball history, namely the Baseball Hall of Fame. For the past decade, his banishment from this honorary induction has sparked debates among fans, sports writers, the baseball commission, and the general public. Always cocky and often self-promoting, Pete Rose is indeed a legend in his…...

hen Johnson defeated Jeffries, however, it unleashed white violence against blacks nationwide. "In ashington, D.C., the ashington Bee reported, 'hite ruffians showed their teeth and attacked almost every colored person they saw upon the public streets'."

Similar events occurred in New York City and tiny towns in the deep South. By the time Jackie Robinson left the Negro Leagues, the backlash was not nearly so pronounced. Arguably, the Negro Leagues kept violence at bay, while producing athletes of exceptional quality without risking Jim Crow law violence.

That, of course, is shining a favorable light on a tradition that is not worthy of accolade, and that arguably prevented numerous black ballplayers from receiving a fraction of their worth.

Today, few people understand the sociological factors that prevented black and white baseball players from competition with each other, as opponents or as members of racially mixed teams. They therefore know even less about those who…...

Music Producers
Biographical Introduction: Teo Macero

Producers work behind the scenes and are the unsung heroes of music. While some producers receive public notoriety like Brian Eno and George Martin; others like Teo Macero remain known mainly to music scholars and serious audiophiles. In 2008, when Macero died, The New York Times ran an obituary with the tagline: "Teo Macero, 82, ecord Producer," as if readers would need that crucial bit of vocational data. Indeed, Macero is best known for his work on Miles Davis's masterpieces Kind of Blue and Bitches Brew. He was also a composer, whose approach to music takes into account the big picture rather than attention to minute detail.

Macero was ahead of his time. He incorporated electronic effects and electronic media in ways that made Bitches Brew as momentous and groundbreaking an album as it is. The embrace of new technology is therefore a hallmark of Macero's style.…...

" However, osch's writings were by no means one-dimensional, for he addressed many universal aspects of life. Indeed, osch's versatility as a writer is reflected in his ability to write works of fantasy, political thought, biographies, history, social realism, and cultural commentaries. He also published several poems and short stories in Cuban and Dominican newspapers and magazines, and worked for a period of time as literary editor for the influential newspaper, Listin Diario.
The fact that Juan osch was, first and foremost, a humanist who was interested in all aspects of human interest and welfare is clearly reflected in his writings. for, osch did not merely dwell on the miserable plight of the rural poor, but also reflected on the materialism and hypocrisy of the upper classes. For instance, in La bella alma de don Damian (the eautiful Soul of Don Damian), osch depicts Don Damian's soul examining itself with a…...
