Helping Children Make Healthy Diet Choices

Is It Ethical to Broadcast Advertising Intended for Children? Description of the ethical dilemma
During an era when childhood obesity has reached epidemic levels in many countries (Childhood obesity: A plan for action, 2017), there is an ethical dilemma with respect to advertisements intended for children that encourage unhealthy diet choices. For example, a study by Boyland, Harrold, Kirkham and Halford (2011) concerning the extent of food advertisements on television intended for children in the United Kingdom found that fully one-third of these advertisements were for food and drink products, especially during peak viewing hours. Moreover, Boyland et al. (2011) emphasize that, “Despite regulation, children in the UK are exposed to more TV advertising for unhealthy than healthy food items, even at peak children’s viewing times” (p. 455). These findings suggest that the arguments against such practices should clearly outweigh those in support, but it is important to examine both sides of…...

Vaccines against diphtheria, polio, pertussis, measles, mumps and rubella, hepatitis B and chicken pox, have given humans powerful immune guards to ward off unwelcome disease and sickness. Because of this the CDC works closely with public health agencies and private partners in order to improve and sustain immunization coverage and to monitor the safety of vaccines so that public health can be maintained and expanded in the future. Despite the good that vaccines appear to do there is a debate stirring in regards to the safety of vaccines and whether or not they are link to disorders such as autism. There are some studies that appear to link childhood vaccinations to autism but the evidence is very weak at best. But because of these types of studies there are a number of parents…...

Recall that when we consider all children, we find that the food insecurity rates are significantly lower for children living with married stepparents than for children with cohabiting parents or single-mother families.

Finally, food insecurity rates are significantly lower for lower-income children living with their married biological/adoptive parents (46.8%) than for all other groups considered.

The share of lower-income children who are food-insecure declined by 4.0 percentage points between 1997 and 2002.

honored to meet a delegation of nurses from ten different countries, because I feel we have a lot to learn from each other in terms of different philosophies of nursing. At the same time, we are all shifting more to evidence-based practice, which transcends linguistic and cultural differences. One of the most difficult things to explain would be access to care, as the United States has the top equipment and doctors in the world but the highest cost of care, too. I would try to explain that although many Americans support the Affordable Care concept, and would even like to see Obamacare taken a step further to improve access and quality of care, many citizens remain uninformed and believe that the current profit-driven model is acceptable.
Most problems can be framed as a policy issue, because policy has real implications for day-to-day practice. Longest's policy framework demonstrates how American policymaking…...

Child Policy in China It
Pages: 6 Words: 1923

Advanced technology played a big role in infanticide as it allowed couples to check the gender of the child before it was born. Ultrasounds helped couples check the sex of their child and allow them to make a decision on abortion easier. Infanticide managed to unbalance the sex ratio in china as there were far too many males and not so many females. Women do not have a big role to play in determining the gender of their children as the husbands are the ones who make the decisions. There have been cases where a husband has beaten his wife to abort her child. Then are cases where the wife has to go into hiding so that people won't be able to know if she is pregnant. This helps a lot if they are expecting a girl and they need to abort it. There have been a lot of…...

Child Development and Children With Special Needs

Lesson objectives enhance teacher-student and teacher-teacher communications. Pupils must understand exactly what they're supposed to do, which will lead them to commit time to the activities that facilitate attainment of objectives. Their ability to differentiate and prioritize important course-based learning tasks will increase, and thus, they will not waste precious time over irrelevant details. Also, students need to make guesses with regards to what the teacher deems important, as well as what is expected in the form of evaluation matter (UNESCO, n.d.).

Problem of the Uninsured Health Disparities
Pages: 11 Words: 3554

Health Disparities of Uninsured
Statistics show that approximately 47 million of America's population lacks medical coverage, and another 38 million has inadequate health insurance. What these statistics imply is that one-third of Americans are insecure and unsure about whether they would afford healthcare if they fell sick or needed medical help today. The State of Texas tops the list, with an uninsured population of approximately 8 million, representing 25.1% of the total (Code ed, 2006). Minority groups form a bulk of the uninsured population (Wu & ingwalt, 2005). The impact of a large uninsured population, however, is massive -- the uninsured affect both themselves and the communities in which they live, compromising the quality of care and placing everyone at risk. They do not often have a primary care physician, which means that they neither seek out medical care when they are supposed to, nor turn up for preventive care like…...

Healthy People and Health
Pages: 2 Words: 845

Health Disparities in Healthy People 2020
For the last two decades now, one of the central goals of Healthy People has been on alleviating disparities. Healthy people 2000 focused on reducing health related disparities in the American population. The Healthy people 2020 mission defines health disparity as a health difference that has close links with socio-economic and environmental disadvantages. Such heath disparities negatively affect groups that face systematic obstacles because of their race, socio-economic stature, religion gender, age cognitive abilities, physical disability, geographic location, exclusive considerations, sexual orientation, or ethnic group (Anon., n.d.).

Maternal, Infant and Child Health

As in the case with adults, social and demographic forces, including the income that the family gets affects infant health, too. Physical and mental health dynamics of the caregiver and parent are also causal to the effects. acial-based disparities have been observed in both mortality and morbidity for children and mothers. Previously, it was considered that a healthy person is the one who does not suffer from any ailment or illness. However in recent times, the physical, psychological and communal aspects of human life have been amalgamated to give a broader perspective to human health which is identical to the concept of indigenous communities (Hjelm, 2010).
