To communicate with people of a different racial or ethnic group, it's important to understand what is important to them. Some races are much more focused on family, for example, and some believe that mental health treatment is not acceptable. Others have a very strong sense of community, while some focus on traditional medicine instead of western options. There are a number of differences, and until a person understands at least the basic differences between cultures, he or she will generally not be good at communicating with people from another culture or race.
