There is a significant mix of races and cultures in A Streetcar Named Desire. Blanche has a very different culture from Stella and Stanley, where she is a lot more refined and the others are more crass. However, they have more fun than Blanche and are generally much more light-hearted. A racial mix is seen in Stella and Stanley's neighborhood, too, with many races and cultures living in the same building and other buildings close to them. Blanche is not used to this being the case, and finds it uncomfortable.
