How do I develop a thesis for the Guadalcanal Campaign during WW2?

I am doing a research paper for my history class and my topic is the Guadalcanal Campaign during WW2. I have found a good source that documents the American operations by each month. I am having trouble trying to develop a thesis so each paragraph is clear. I thought about doing a paragraph on each month but I\'m not sure if that will work well or not.

A paragraph on each month would be a good way to do the paper. Chronological papers are good for events like wars and other conflicts, and you could structure your thesis around how the battle changed and developed every month and then use that to work through the main structure of the paper.
