The above Socio-Ecological Model (SEM) that displays the relationship between the intra-individual factors, he individual factors and the environmental factors that affect the stress levels of African-American youth gives a depiction of the factors that can affect the lives of individuals and subject them to stresses. But it also gives the other intervening factors that can accelerate stress yet are a result of the stress, for instance when a youth gets subjected to stress, he forms coping mechanisms, these mechanisms may end up being the cause of further stress when there is high focus on them. The SEM is hence a physical representation that can help the public health practitioners to draw a relationship between the individual and the environment as possible cause of stress, but also visualize the other often ignored causes of stress or intervening factors. The diagram will guide the practitioner to know that stress is not often unidirectional but can radiate from all directions hence needs and approach that does not assume single approach solution to problems. The SEMalso helps show that as the causes of stress among this population moves outwards, the reasons from stress become more obvious and pronounced as compared to the stressors at the core.

As Landis states: Agricultural societies historically have had no adolescent youth problem. Childhood merges directly into adulthood. In our frontier society of a few generations ago, the adolescent group was not recognized as a problem group. Young people took over the responsibilities of adulthood early and were accepted in adult roles by the society When urbanization, developed to the point where the adolescent had no place in the work world
The Fun Principle stated that as "we take the fun out of physical activities, we take the kids out of them" (Martens, 1996, p. 306). Martens said that learning should be enjoyable and that when winning is pursued in the extreme, it produces behaviors that destroy children's self-worth and rob them of fun. However, adults frequently violate this principle by over organizing, constantly instructing and evaluating, over drilling and routinizing

The transition from pre-conventional to conventional moral development is changing one's view from selfishness to responsibility for others. The transition from conventional to post conventional development is from goodness to truth that "they are people, too." Gilligan's theory supports that there is more than one dimension to moral reasoning, whereas Kohlberg's theory is focused on a male-centered view. 7. An individual employing problem-focused coping strategies will target the cause of their
