I was once part of a school committee whose task was to organize a major annual talent showcase of the school. To be specific, I was part of the team that was given the job to choose who should be included in the line-up of performers. Our tasks included publicity of the audition, distribution of sign-up sheets for interested students, venue and schedule of the audition, acquisition of the musical instruments needed, and choosing the performers. Our team was composed of five people coming from different colleges. When we held our first meeting, we introduced ourselves, familiarized ourselves with our strengths and weaknesses and discussed the tasks. It was a democratic form of meeting, and there were no assigned leader. However, being the most experienced, unofficially, I was rather relied upon to facilitate the first meeting and all that came after. It was also my unofficial duty to check if the each member who volunteered to do a certain job was able to do it on time, or if problems arose, help the person in his task.
Fortunately, all of us in our team were able to do out assigned tasks and within their due dates. On the day that the final audition was set when invited judges would do the final screening, our team was commended on how efficient we performed. Because of this, there was enough time for the organizers to iron out minor details in other aspect of the project. The annual talent showcase turned out successful, and everybody who watched it applauded the outstanding performances of the students.
