This formulation involves an external assessment that includes understanding how existing and future innovation could affect strategic businesses, offerings and opportunities. Innovation requires that teams, specialized units, and whole organizations can become technology brokers (Allerton, 2000). Only by linking the incentives and rewards of the team members with performance, leaders can inspire its people for brining new products sooner than the competitors can. By demonstrating the direction for innovation, the leaders can ensure broad support for change in the organization. By ensuring that organizational teams possess necessary talent and chemistry, the strategic leaders can prioritize innovations, while monitoring for ongoing alignment, synergy and cumulative achievement of strategic results.
