Dear Sir/Madam
Please find my research proposal on social media in the workplace below
The modern workplace is characterized with the increased use of social media as a means of communication between individuals. Social media is a broad term used to refer to Internet-based tools or sites that enable people to make and remain in contact as well as interact. As the impact of social media on the workplace is increasing because of the pervasiveness of its use, it is increasingly affecting communications among employers, employees, and job applicants. Moreover, the use of social media in the workplace is affecting how companies promote and manage their reputation and how various stakeholders in the working environment are treating each other. While the increased use of social media in the workplace presents new opportunities, it has raised numerous concerns and questions in relation to its impact on employee and organizational productivity. Actually, recent statistics show that more than 50% of United States employers are blocking access to social media at the workplace. This research will examine how social media is being used in the workplace, its impact, and the best approach for employers to take in handling its use.

United Airlines: Dragging Through Crisis Management A recent scandal at United Airlines involving a routine overbooking of a flight and a non-routine removal of a passenger after none volunteered to de-board has thrust United into a rather negative spotlight. Its image has been tarred by widespread public disapproval thanks to social media, and the company's settlement with the customer out of court has done little to polish the airline's image. Its
relevance of a well-developed social media policy cannot be overstated. This is more so the case given that in addition to ensuring that their public image and reputation is not tainted; organizations need to protect themselves against liabilities arising from the actions of their employees. A new employee could be overenthusiastic about their new position and deem it fit to post, blog, and tweet about the said position and
