By recognizing and addressing mental health concerns early, schools can prevent these problems from escalating and affecting students' long-term well-being (Kataoka et al., 2002).
Gender discrimination and stereotyping are social issues that significantly affect educational experiences and outcomes. From the subjects that students choose to study to the sports they are encouraged to play, gender plays a role in shaping their school life. For example, girls often face barriers in STEM fields, where they are underrepresented (Wang and Degol, 2017). Additionally, students who do not conform to traditional gender norms, including transgender and non-binary students, can face harassment and misunderstanding in a school environment (McGuire et al., 2010).
