¶ … Lifelong Learning Using Technology
Technology has changed the way people learn. These days, the conventional method of learning from books and through teacher's intervention is not the only technique that educational institutions depend to impart knowledge and skills to students. With the emergence of technology, learning from digital resources has been a component of many school curriculums.
Learning is a continuous process. After finishing school, we continuously absorb diverse information, knowledge, and skills from our own experiences, either from our work or simply from our day-to-day life. More especially, because of the different technologies that have been developed, people seem to similarly develop different strategies for lifelong learning. One tool to such is the usability and value of what the Internet can provide. If some decades ago, we have to run to libraries when we need to research information, the convenience of accomplishing such need these days, with the help of the Internet, can make one say "thank you technology."
Because of the accessibility of different technological tools for learning, lifelong learning has been a passion to most people. This is apparent with the many people we see that browse the Internet for different kinds of information. Also, this is apparent in the number of schools that provide online schooling or distance learning. Such learning strategy is very helpful to people who wish to take up a learning course from a school that is far from their location. Moreover, it is useful for working professionals who wish to further their education but do not have much time to attend conventional learning environment.
Technical professionals in information technology have a lot of responsibilities in the development and maintenance of strategies for lifelong learning. This is because of the fact that learning with the help of technology will not be possible without them. They are the individuals who are responsible for the existence of learning technology. Thus, because of this, their responsibility revolves around the following.
To make accurate, efficient, and different technology-based learning tools.
Enhancement and maintenance of the learning tools for "up-to-date" features.
Development of more and better technology-based learning tools.
Technical professionals in education have similar responsibilities in developing different strategic models that promote lifelong learning. With such strategic models, people can have idea on the right things to do for them to pursue a lifelong learning even without the conventional classroom environment. All they need is discipline, the right strategies, and technology, to allow constant learning process -- a lifelong learning.
Learning Using Technology
Learning using technology has been an indispensable element in many educational institutions. Computers and different technological learning devices were implemented in learning environments because of the many advantages that they provide to the learning process. Some of such advantages are quick access to information, makes learning interesting, provides diverse information (i.e. The Internet), and many others. However, learning using technology must follow several measures to ensure that technology plays positive and beneficial roles to learning. TLT Group online has the following pointers to help people, especially the educational institutions, ensure that technology provides major improvements in educational outcomes.
Begin with a long-term focus on a few selected outcomes and the educational activities needed to improve them
Choose technology that can contribute incrementally and cumulatively over the long haul.
Emphasize forms of instructional material that most faculty members find quick and easy to create, adapt, and share
Track the progress of the strategy to get the data (and money) needed to stay on course.
Create coalitions to ensure that the program has all the ingredients needed in the recipe for improving outcomes.
Researches and studies have found that learning using technology is effective and efficient to different types of learners. However, there are also negative consequences that have been explored regarding the use of technology in learning. One of the most common issue that have arouse is the effect of lack in communication skills of people who undergo learning through technology.
In general, with the all the advantages and disadvantages that may have exist on learning using technology, one important point that most studies highlight is that technology should not replace the traditional process of learning. Rather, it must be considered as an important supplement to learning because of the obvious advantages that technology can provide. However, the importance of learning intervention with the teaching professionals and with other people must not be overlooked.

Indeed, Weiss describes the process as "ironic" and notes that, "The incentives to put clients first underplay the more subtle logic behind encouraging knowledge sharing in the first place: firms that effectively collect and connect what they know will better serve their clients" (1999, p. 62).
