The client, Jess had done so well for the 30 days while sheltering that she almost enrolled in a training program. She had wanted to be a lab technician, but due to the lack of funds, her parents could not to send her to school. She was also preparing to move into a transitional apartment, but with all these excitements, David was still fighting for the custody of the children. The court had also given visitation rights to David, but it would be under supervision and Nick had refused to visit his father. For Shannon and Marty, they would go to the court every week and see their father for one hour. When Shannon went to sleep, there are moments when she would cry for her daddy (Mcintosh, 2015). The above things and moments were so difficult for Jesse to be alone and prompted her to want to go back to David. Moreover, there are moments when she would forget the bad things done to her by David and just reminisce on the good times they had together as a couple and family. Above all, Jesse was still in love with David. This was a very moving moment for her to fight for her children and defend them from their violent father (Kirst-Ashman & Hull, 2015).

Most survivors stay in abusive relationships with the hope of making things work, and we relate this to Jesse's story and her experiences of looking after the best interests of the children before attempting to solve their broken relationship (Dockterman, 2016). Female victims of domestic violence are held hostage because they find it hard to leave due to concerns over money for upkeep and the welfare of the children plus their mental well-being. Most of the women who fall, a victim of domestic violence, are not in a position to leave since she relies on the man for survival and thus, any decision she makes becomes a lose-lose situation. Women have been forced to live with Concussion Syndrome and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) due to the everyday result of abuse.
In most instances, the woman would run away with the kids, but in the end, would find herself back in the relationship due to circumstances beyond her reach. The children are the most important factor in marriage and therefore, what Jesse did was a plus because she put the welfare of her children first before her physical ailments.
