Last reviewed: March 7, 2012 ~4 min read

¶ … religious dualism and contrasts it to Bibles teachings and understanding of the existence of Both God and Satan. It explores the authenticity of dualism as a doctrine while providing strong Biblical evidence of the supremacy of God. The paper highlights Biblical origin of Satan and prophesies of his end. Satan's limitations are also highlighted as a proof that he is not God's equal but is in fact subservient to Him.

Religious Dualism

Religious dualism is a doctrine that acknowledges existence of two powerful and eternal supernatural beings of equal powers antagonize one another, often depicted as a representative of good and evil (Mizii 1999). However, it is important to understand what the Bible says about dualism. Satan might have little power over human beings, but he is not equal to God in any way, in the book of John, the Bible says, "you, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world"[footnoteRef:1] . Jesus acknowledged that God is the greatest power over all the other beings in this universe; he said, "All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth."[footnoteRef:2] In addition, the Lord's Prayer recited in Matthew ends with, "For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever, amen."[footnoteRef:3] Furthermore, the book of Daniel says, "the most high ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will."[footnoteRef:4] [1: 1 Jn. 4:4(NIV)] [2: Matt. 28: 18] [3: Matt. 6:13] [4: Dn. 4:17]

God Almighty is the creator and ruler of the universe; He is the sovereign ruler and is in control. Satan can neither be any of what God is, according to the book of Chronicles it is affirmed that "O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? And rulest not thou over all kingdoms of the heathen? And in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?"[footnoteRef:5] [5: 2 Chr. 20:6]

The Bible says that Satan is a liar and will continue to be one. When he tempted Jesus in the wilderness, Satan claimed that the entire world was his own and that he could give it at his will. The Bible in the book of John clearly brings out Satan as a liar. The words uttered by Satan contradict the Bible, the book of Daniel says, "the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will"[footnoteRef:6]. It is clear according to the Bible that there is only one God the creator of heaven and earth and all that is in it as well as the universe and no other can claim to rival Him. [6: Dn. 4:17]
