Reflection: Public Preferences And Health Care Essay

Personal Values Spiritual Beliefs and Health Care Policy I have taken up the majority of values beliefs from my parents. I value peace as a critical factor in people's lives. People should show goodwill to others while trying to limit the conflict unless with absolute necessity. Individuals should have some form of love within their life. I believe that loving oneself allows people to adore to fellow humans. Further, showing care to nature involves engaging in sustainable activities that protect all creatures. The love for someone or something and receiving love in return indicates a level of respect. Ease arises when people feel that there is a need to be moderate and balance life's offerings (Soroka & Wlezien, 2010). I believe that the equality between female and male aspects and evil and good are integral phenomena. I value respect for life and embrace diversity that the world offers. Increased diversity allows people to enjoy each other more. The concept relies on tolerance of other people and their opinions. Such beliefs do not always tally with those of my friends or colleagues. In this case, I embrace change as an eternal component of life.

My integration with the health system has greatly influenced my attitude. My view on the health system is that of a dynamic status where the health and illness question pops up. The concept has changed my beliefs and behaviours about health (Soroka & Wlezien, 2010). Health is holistic and encompasses physical, spiritual, physiological, and emotional among other social aspects of life. Professional nurses use nursing processes where basic scientific nursing practices are required to analyze data gathered from different sources. I use my comforting, technical, and nurturing skills to support patients attain optimum health. I use my knowledge to make complex decisions, and diverse skill sets to provide care for ill friends.
In my opinion, the technological advancements in health care interfere with the environment's well-being. The environmental elements may be physical like temperature, air, and water or nonphysical like family parenting, culture, beliefs and attitudes, churches, and healthcare (Soroka & Lim, 2003). People co-exist in an environment with other non-physical and physical components through constant interactions. The components have major effects on the health status as well as how people adapts to them.

From my experiences, I have realized that I have to be prepared in order to address different cultural reactions and responses whilst adapting my behaviour and information to expertly deal with health care situation. Another illustration is how cultures view medical professionals as people of authority and leave all decisions on the hands of the caregivers (Simpson, 2012). With this understanding, I will remain open to more learning of different beliefs and values of cultures and be non-judgmental. Respecting other people's culture encourages a peaceful environment for patients to heal. Individualizing care based on different cultural backgrounds means that the culture has a significant influence in the framework of the health care system.
