Hellooo There!
My name is healthpro! and I am here to teach you about a serious health challenge called obesity.
What is obesity?
Have you ever seen a person or had a friend who seems to have too much weight? Well, that person could be suffering from obesity. Thus obesity is simply a situation whereby a person has excess body fat.
Why is obesity a serious health challenge?
Overweight and obese people are at a higher risk of developing serious health conditions. Children your age who are obese are at a higher risk of experiencing poor health. Associated health conditions include joint and bone complications and asthma. Some of the other health issues associated with obesity include, but they are not limited to, diabetes, heart disease, and even stroke. Also, if you are obese, your friends are likely to tease or bully you because you seem different from them. This could make you sad and depressed.
What Causes Obesity?
Now that we know that being obese is not a good thing, it would be even better to check out some of the factors that cause obesity
Some of the most common causes of obesity for children your age include eating unhealthy foods (such as junk foods) and failure to engage in some kind of physical exercises (like jogging, walking around often, doing some housework, etc.). However, some causes of obesity are beyond your control. These are known as genetic factors and you inherit them from your parents.
How Can I Prevent Obesity?
To ensure that you do not develop obesity, I want you to practice the three habits below on a daily basis:
1. Eat healthy foods like fruits and nuts. Avoid junk foods such as fries
2. Ensure that you do not ingest drinks having too much sugar, i.e. soft drinks. Healthy juices made from natural fruits are sweet and help keep obesity at bay!
3. Become physically active. Physical exercises such as games are good ways to stay fit. Also, you can help with home chores and occasionally ride a bike to burn excess fat
You should also be supportive to your friends who could be obese and help them overcome the problem by teaching them some of the lessons I have taught you!
