Nurse Jobs Increase the proportion of nurses with baccalaureate degrees to 80% by 2020

By increasing the proportion of nurses with advanced degrees, health care firms can hire skilled workers at a lower cost. In has been proven that workers are, in many instances, the highest cost insured by businesses. By increasing the level of baccalaureate degrees for nurses to 80%, competition is enhanced significantly. This competition ultimately will lower labor costs for businesses. Through this competition, potential employees will work for less money as the supply of labor outweighs the demand for labor. Therefore, it is my belief that to compete in this market, potential candidates must possess skills that differentiate themselves relative to peers in the industry. Aspects such as interpersonal skills, which are highly desirable within the health care profession, would become highly sought after. I believe that I can compete with both of these components at a high level. I believe my leadership skills and communication acumen will set me apart from the field in regards to employment. My options in the job market under this recommendation are varied and plentiful. The affordable care act, along with consolidation among healthcare companies has created a vast array of nursing positions in which I can benefit from. As more than 30 million new Americans become insured, the need for my skills and expertise will become very profound. Therefore, it is my belief that my job prospects under this recommendation are plentiful (Bond, 1994).
