Due to tremendous increase in crime rate, there is urgent need to evaluate and understand criminal behavior, to implement programs and develop strategies that will prevent criminal activities and curb crime increase, using considerately cost effective approaches and technological inputs.
With regards to the nature of the problem, the most convenient way that will be cost effective and easy to implement will be the use of Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs being integrated into the high school syllabus as an incentive which will make the program more appealing to the students, hence allowing for prevention of the crime rates. The introduction of the ROTC program will ensure all the high school students are trained on the best morals and ethics, which will ensure reduced crimes.
Currently the program is offering the college and university students training to prepare them for the military after school, and usually offers incentives such as sponsorships, for the students joining the program. The program was conceptualized in 1926 and caused great impact in helping sabotage the crime in Alabama. The program also allowed its members for credit of the physical education, though this was met with controversy in the month of June 2008. However, the skills and discipline acquired after the program were indispensable aspects towards the case (Stone, 2008).
