National Community Health Agency: Mental A-Level Coursework

By raising awareness about various political agendas, politicians and newsworthy events that impact the health of Mental Health America, they help to maintain and increase their funding. Through making awareness of things like the Health Reform Bill, Mental Health America also puts their own name out there, making it easier than ever before for them to raise the money they need to continue operations. There are so many benefits to having an organization of this caliber in the United States. People don't realize how important mental health is until it hits close to home. The Mental Health America website defines mental health as a person's ability to cope with whatever life brings their way (2010). For some people, the simple stresses of paying bills, buying a home, raising a child, ending a marriage or toughing it out through a relationship are insurmountable obstacles. Through talk therapy, medication and personal growth, associations like Mental Health America are able to help people get the help they need.

Mental Health America is also of benefit as far as creating awareness. Just having an organization in the United States...

Unfortunately, those who are at the healthy end of the scale do not always notice the state of their mental health because it is positive. Those at the other end of the scale may not care about their mental health because they are so far gone. Like dental health or reproductive health, mental health is an aspect of keeping the human body up to tune that must be considered. Without organizations to raise awareness to those who don't even consider this aspect of health, many people might go without the help they need.
Mental health can go largely unnoticed in the United States. Through organizations like Mental Health America, people can become educated and aware. As a national organization, Mental Health America touches the lives of people from all different types of neighborhoods and all walks of life. Continued public funding and private donations are critical to keeping this organization going.
