Preventing this 'snowball effect' of fatigued muscle, leading to leakage of calcium, leading to a weaker muscle that must work harder, leading to increased fatigue, would mean an increased life expectancy for these patients.
From an economic standpoint, the resultant increased life expectancy of a treatment derived from this study, would likely result in an increased cost to society.
Direct items, such as increased payments in Social Security benefits, will place an economic strain on society. Other economic costs will be increased healthcare for these patients, as they survive longer. However, for younger patients, this will allow them to be economically more productive within society.
Lastly, from a medical standpoint the implications are significant. This new research sheds light on an issue that has intrigued scientists and medical professionals. The molecular cause for muscle fatigue is now pinpointed. This not only has implications for cardiac medical professionals, but all medical professionals who deal with skeletal muscles as well.
Relation to Profession:
This research opens up new opportunities for my health care practice, once treatments are created, from the findings.
Obviously, treatment for patients suffering from cardiac disease will offer new hope for many patients. In addition, athletes are likely to benefit from these treatments as well, as they are able to train harder and longer with treatments that would reduce skeletal muscle fatigue.
Future:
The potential...
Political Reasons Behind the Electricity Dilemma in Haiti What it will take to have electricity in Haiti Cost Cost is one of the significant factors that contribute significantly to the development of electricity in Haiti. Since the investment in the sector of electricity has been extremely slow, combining the aspects inclusive of the non-payment culture for electric services, low-based metered customers, and fair consumer tariffs contributes significantly to electricity accessibility. The consideration of
The presence of cardiac enzymes in the blood often indicates myocardial necrosis. Medical experts generally view MI as one among acute coronary syndromes. Unstable angina and non-ST-elevation MI are among the syndromes. Statistics said that approximately 1.5 million cases come up each year. MI is a cardiovascular condition. About 12 million deaths worldwide each year are attributed to cardiovascular diseases as cause, according to the World Health Organization. These
Physiological Changes Associated With Aging Aging is the complex and inevitable process of tissue and organ system degeneration. Though largely influenced by genetics, aging is also dependent upon a number of environmental factors including exercise, diet, childhood personality, and exposure to ionizing radiation, pollutants, or microorganisms. The physiological changes that occur as an individual's age advances can be grouped into three, with the first category encompassing changes in such homeostatic mechanisms
Night Vision Goggles: Fatigue and Decline Cognitive Levels Night Vision Goggles: Fatigue and Decline of Cognitive Levels In modern combat missions, the desire to operate at night is paramount because of the heightened enemy prowess against aggressors. As a result, technology has fostered the possibility of developing systems that would minimize the challenges associated with darkness. A common example of this technology is the Night Vision Goggles (NVG). However, because of physical
Muscular System The normal anatomy and physiology of a muscle determines its capability of formulating a contraction. The contraction of a muscle is dependent on the ability of a neuron to become excited through a process that includes a concentrated flow of sodium (Na+), potassium (K+), and calcium (Ca+) through the neuron and eventually into the muscle cell (Tortora & Derrickson, 2011). A neuron begins its resting membrane potential at
Athletic Training Whether to win marathons or to make it to the state football championships, all athletes need some form of training. Lately, increased focus has been placed on the specific importance of weight, or strength, training for the overall conditioning of a casual or professional athlete. The terms "weight training" and "strength training" are technically different, but often the two terms are often used interchangeably. Typically, weight training implies the
