Mission Vision
Mission and Vision
Mission Statement
To fulfill President Lincoln's promise "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans.
Core Values
VA's five core values underscore the obligations inherent in VA's mission: Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. The core values define "who we are," our culture, and how we care for Veterans and eligible beneficiaries. Our values are more than just words -- they affect outcomes in our daily interactions with Veterans and eligible beneficiaries and with each other.
The mission, vision, and values at the VA are represented throughout the organization. The VA is a service organization that composed of individuals that are caring and compassionate and who serve Americas veterans. The VA faces numerous challenges in effectively serving this population. There are limited resources available to service the needs of veterans. Many of the conditions that patients have are complex and require world class medical care. Other condition are psychological and more and more is being understood about conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and how it relates to military services. Despite all the challenges that the VA faces, it faces these challenges with a strong set of values. Many of the specific problems that the VA faces are due to a lack of resources that is beyond the organizations control and it continues to advocate on behalf of veterans.
Project Implementation
I would like to design a project that is direct towards ridding the VA hospital of decubitus (bedsores) which is a preventable condition. The first step will be planning and the research and best practices will be collected and considered. I would like to compile information to be able to educate the Certified Nursing Assistants on the most update practices related to decubitus. After providing the background information about the condition, I would then employ the "SODOTO" method of teaching.
