Margaret Preston Aim To Modernise Essay

Preston's relationships to famous artists and the promotion of her work in area magazines were also unique and offered a large viewership audience. Not everyone enjoys looking at Preston's work, but she had definitely held a strong presence in Australian society throughout her lifetime, as well as since her death. Preston definitely new exactly what she wanted to do throughout her life and wasn't afraid to implement unusual and new techniques into her work. Her studies of both Aboriginal art and Japanese art seems to have influenced much of the art she produced.

Her use of publicity sets Preston apart from other artists during that time period. As a woman artist who was making her way independently finally, Preston appealed to women throughout Australia by producing her beautiful artwork for Women's World magazine covers, as well as writing her opinions regarding Australian art and the modernisation of that art for readers to enjoy and learn from.

Today, Preston is described as leading artist in Australian art. She is often described as being a woman with cosmopolitan style, who possessed a very dynamic and strong personality.
