This is a dramatic reduction in the size of the company from what it once was a few years ago. The reasons why is from globalization and bureaucracy forcing the company to seek out ways to reduce their underlying costs. To fully understand how this is taking place requires looking at: the use of the Internet for internal operations and the way this could decrease the company's costs. Together, these different elements will highlight how Johnson & Johnson can transform itself to deal with these new realities. (Singer)

A good example of this can be seen with the company receiving the Robert W. Campbell Award for Safety. What makes this so prestigious; is the firm has been continually focusing on using this to help everyone understand the dangers in the workplace. This is when managers were able to create a protocol that became a part of every manufacturing facility. Over the course of time, this allowed everyone to focus on achieving the same kind of organizational objectives. This is the point that this has changed the operating environment.
