Importance Of Communication In Learning Article Review

¶ … Service -- Learning Service learning refers to the process where students are integrated into the practice of exercising their class learning in the real world. It is associated with various advantages because the students put into practice all that they have learned in class. This enhances their understanding of the topics they learn and being able to be more creative than when they were in class. For success to be attained the students have to be made to understand the importance of this exercise. It involves the application of what is popularly referred to as the three Cs. These are commitment, communication, and compatibility as described in this study.

Commitment refers to the dedication that is needed to achieve the objective of service learning. Commitment requires the total devotion of all the players in all industries. Commitment is rated as the most important of the three Cs. It binds all the others and propels the students towards the attainment of the needed objectives. In this case, the students can undergo a transformational change when they manage to believe in a system where commitment is the rule of the game. In most cases, tutors in school emphasize to the students on the need to cultivate commitment among them. To the community, commitment is everything when it comes to harnessing the viability of service learning. On their part, the members of the community show commitment by allowing the students to have an easy stay within the community. Once they get out of school, the students will have a problem with integrating into the system. The community lacks the ability to harness its own developmental processes due to insufficiency of knowledge. However, with the introduction of the service learning into the system, management of the community projects becomes easy.

Communication is the process where information is disseminated throughout the chain of management in the service-learning regime. It is important to note that communication of is the channel through which information regarding the process of making the work on the community...

Ideally, the people involved in the process, who are the students, tutors, and the community, have to be in talking terms in a manner that makes the process work well. During the communication process, there is a need to pay attention to the content of the communication process.
Compatibility refers to the close relationship between what is learned in class and what is done in the field. What students learn while in school is important in helping actualize similar tasks in the field. During service-learning, it is important to note that what students learn in class has to be synchronized to be in tandem with the actual activities in the field. During industrial attachments, which are part of service learning, students are able to acquire direct skills and knowledge that relate to the work done.

In my community, the definition of commitment would have been the same as the one done in the chapter. Commitment is nothing but a decision to dedicate service to the community. In this system of operation, it is important that people dedicate much of their time and effort through their expertise. The writers in this chapter covered much of the details about commitment.

Communication has numerous advantages when it comes to the use and utilization of skills learned in a service management. In as service management regime, there is also the advantage of openness facilitated by communication. Through communication, all the partners in the process manage to attain a desirable level of success relating to the practice. In order to foster the process of communication, the team has connected the partners to the same medium of talking. The involvement of WUU in this process fast tracks the process of communication by creating an easy medium of communication. Previously, an initial project to undertake service learning bordered on the use of communication. It did not go well since little attention was paid to the way in which the people appreciated its applicability.

Compatibility helps service learning in such a manner that it will be easy to…
