¶ … HRM professionals have a number of responsibilities, these revolve around the various tasks required to ensure that the firm has the human resources that are needed, with the requisite skills and abilities, in the right place at the right time. This may appear a simplistic approach, but the underlying concepts are complex, and require not only the tasks which were once associated with purely personnel management, such as hiring, discipline, and firing, but the with more strategic tasks. For example, HR professionals may need to undertake strategic planning taking into account the organizations future goals, assess what skills maybe needed and aiding with the development of skills in the workforce, ensuring the workforce is motivated and playing a role in foreword planning for the firm. Good HR professionals will have the knowledge and skills to identify and either mitigate or resolve the challenges faced by business, which require not only the issues themselves to be resolve, but resolved in ways that are fair, ethical, and fully complainant with legislation or regulation. Employees are one of the main resources of a firm, so the management of those resources is of paramount importance.
