Goals And Aspirations For The Nursing Field Term Paper

Goals for Pursuing a Career in Nursing

Identify and assess personal goals and feelings for selecting a career in nursing.

Nursing is a profession where people have the opportunity to give back and hopefully, make a difference.

Goals and Aspirations Essay

One of the main reasons that selected nursing as my career is because nursing is a profession that is associated with respect and esteem. My goal is to complete my course of study and obtain my RN license and then to practice in a surgical hospital. I hope to continue my education and demonstrate my competencies and skills by eventually specializing in cardiovascular care.

Throughout my career, one of my goals is to remain up-to-date on the nursing and medical profession by continuing my education to stay current. I also hope to join a few key professional organizations that will be centered on my area of specialty. This will allow me to network with other professionals in my field and keep abreast of issues, best practices and changes that are taking place in the nursing professional and health care.

In addition, one of the other reasons I decided to be a nurse is because they do play an integral role in a patient's care. They often make independent decisions within their scope of practice and are responsible for insuring the well being of patients. I also feel that it provides me with the opportunity to educate people about disease management and promoting good health.

Although no one in my family has attended college or is in the healthcare field, I have always admired the story of Florence Nightengale and others who were models for the nursing practice.

I am also impressed that nurses often see their patient's at their most vulnerable and sometimes, even in an unflattering light and they never judge them. They render care to every and treat them equally without being judgmental or unkind. It is my goal to provide the best care possible to all my patients and to hopefully be a model for others in my field.
