Food varieties vary from one community to another, and various dishes are known to be served during certain occasions. Basically, in events planning, one of the weighty considerations made, is the type of food to be served during the occasion. Food is considered to be one of factors that are used to bring people together in families and in society (Berg 8).

Most families have set aside a particular time of the day or evening when they all gather for family meals. Some families find it difficult to gather around daily for family meals due to non-flexible daily schedules. Extended families organize occasional gathering for instance once a year with a solemn aim of having a meal together. On prominent social occasions such as weddings, food must be reserved for time in the program. Events meal time differ slightly with a family meal time in the sense of the number dishes that accomplish the meal (Berg 12).

Aunt Rose mastered the art of cooking since she was a young girl. She could finish all her school homework's well in advance so that she can join her mum in food preparations and cooking. Her mum trained her how to prepare and cook different meals. During this time, she would engage her mother with all sorts of questions about food and other secular issues. This established a very strong bond between her and her mother. During her school holiday's, she could join short-term cookery classes. She leant to make different types of dishes including baking. Today she can bake all sorts of cakes with any type of decorations.

During most of our family gatherings, Aunt Rose is normally consulted on the meals to be included during the occasion. She is always ready to offer her advice and offer any help that is required. She is highly regarded by all members of the extended family. I vividly remember of a certain special occasion that was too held at my grandmother's place. At the same period, there was so much work at Aunt Rose's place of work and her supervisor was hesitant to grant her an off. Everybody in the family was worried of how the day's cooking would be without her presence.
